Ohh, that's right, because haven't you watched "Nip/Tuck" (from the same network)? So it makes sense.
I'm guessing you haven't seen the show before. So you (well, maybe not you, but someone else) won't be caught off guard, you should know the show is extremely ballsy. It's an impressive mixture of things, really. Quite entertaining.
Definitely a show worth getting caught up on. I should do that.

Thought you might. I mean it's CHARLES DURNING! TWENTY FOUR EPISODES! That's waaay too good to pass up.

If you wish to see some of the show now, there are some really awesome clips on YouTube.
Here's a four-minute, two-clip segment featuring Charles Durning. It's not the best quality but it's suitable, and it's crazy and funny.

So you (well, maybe not you, but someone else) won't be caught off guard, you should know the show is extremely ballsy.
In what way? That definitely piqued my interest, heh. I've heard a lot of good things about the series, acting especially, but now it's like I NEED to check it out after hearing about Charles Durning.

Hmm, maybe I saw some of the ballsiness in the clips there. HA! Funny stuff! Definitely a cable tv show. Loved the first clip, especially. A bit different from his role as Andy's father, I think I'd say. Oooh lawdy, I can't wait to see this!

In what way?
Simply, it's unequivocally gritty. It takes chances, it rips through banality with its hard-edged dialogue and brusque character portrayal.

Ahh, I know!

So, this is what really incited me to take a renewed interest in the show (from the Charles Durning IMDb message board):
funny as hell in rescue me, but is also serious.

loved the line: Stop touching me! your always touching me!

Tommy: Im just trying to help you.

Dad: Ill tell you when I need help now dont let me fall

Tommy tries helping him

Dad: Stop touching me!

God, that's just pure hilarity!!!

Excuse me but I felt the need to lift this thread out of oblivion.

I hope that's OK.

The current week's schedule is just a few posts down. It just may strike your fancy.

The Sandlot is one of my all time favorite movies. I just love it!

If you look at James Earl Jones in the Sandlot and you look at him in Everwood and you look at him in Field of Dreams (another all time favorite) he doesn't seem to have aged and his characters are very similar.
He plays a grumpy old man, with a good heart inside, and in two of them....he loves baseball! I kind of think that that's interesting.

^^^ I loved both movies, too. I've watched "Field of Dreams" so many times. "Sandlot" came out when I was in middle school - I can't even remember what class it was in but we always watched it on days when we had a sub. Those were the days...

Yeah, that's true. I think he has had a great diversity in his roles though. Although I haven't seen a lot of his films and tv appearances. I don't think I've seen The Sandlot. I will have to watch it sometime soon.

detritus, I order you to rent The Sandlot and Field of Dreams..

You may not like those films as much as we do....but you owe yourself the experience of seeing them.

May I wait for them to show up on TV? I do have cable, remember, so they should show up sooner than later.
I hope that's OK.

Hmm. . . well. . .
They both seem like really great films. I know Field of Dreams is widely-inspiring and critically-acclaimed, and was nominated for three Academy Awards (really the whole lot --- Best Music, Best Picture and Best Writing!) while boasting some very notable actors. The Sandlot obviously appeals more to children but seems like a lovely, fun and worthwhile film in its own right. Plus, Denis Leary is in it and I was thinking I'd like to see more of what he's done (notice the "Rescue Me" convo Tos and I were having). I just looked over his filmography and the only things (besides a little of the aforementioned series) that I've seen are Small Soldiers and The Neon Bible.
So, yeah, I can see myself enjoying both of them. And thank you for the recommendation.
