The Reflex

Fresh | monday | 9/8c

Ephram (Gregory Smith) and Amy (Emily VanCamp) decide they're ready to take the next step in their relationship with romantic plans to meet at the Abbotts' lake house, but the enormity of the situation proves too much for the couple to handle. Meanwhile, Andy (Treat Williams) and Amanda (Anne Heche) play chaperone for Delia (Vivien Cardone) and Charlie's (guest star Shane Haboucha) pizza date, but the evening turns out to be more of a date for the two adults, who realize their mutual attraction is wrong. Finally, Nina (Stephanie Niznik) reevaluates her feelings for Jake (Scott Wolf) after he comes to her rescue.
Debra Mooney, Merrilyn Gann and Tom Amandes also star. Executive producer Rina Mimoun wrote the episode directed by Michael Lange.

I can't wait for tomorrow night! I just know that Greg/Emily are going to act superbly as E/A in their scenes. :D I can't wait to see Delia and Charlie. :)

This scenario with Ephram and Amy sounds like what happened to Pacey and Andie when he took her to a romantic Bed and Breakfast to give her her fantasy evening for her first time in High Risk Behavior, but then she got overwhelmed and scared of the situation, and she told him she wasn't ready, but he was so kind and understanding of her feelings, that they ended up sharing their first time later that night, although we didn't find that out until it was revealed in Sex She Wrote. I loved Pacey and Andie together.

Oh well, it looks like they're going to keep a possible Andy/Nina relationship on the back burner again, and maybe have Nina explore her feelings for Jake. It'll serve Andy right. He's a grown-up Dawson Leery, blind to what's right in front of him, and he won't appreciate what he has in Nina until she's with someone else. Oh well. :)

Great point, Jerry. I completely see the parallels between EA and PA on the Creek. Amy/Andie are both inexperienced and slightly self consious because of Ephram/Pacey's experience with "older" women, as Pacey was with Tamara and Ephram with Madison. Ephram and Pacey want to make their girlfriends first time special, romantic and everything else that will make it the "perfect" night. And like Andie, Amy is going to let the enormity of the situation get the best of her and will have second thoughts. But then, closely following the initial decision not to go through with it, EA will end up going through with it once Amy's anxiety has eased, and it will be everything she has ever dreamed of. (of course, PA are in the past tense, but I wanted to compare the couples so they ended up in the present tense. LOL You get my drift though. Hee)

I also think Andy is clueless and it will take seeing Nina with Jake for Andy to confront his feelings for Nina. Yep, Andy has clueless tendencies just like Dawson. Hee.

Maybe Andy will challenge Jake to a boat race if Jake and Nina hook up! Wait, this is Colorado in the late Fall, so it'll have to be a snowmobile race! ;) He can try to run him into a snow bank!

I am soo excited for tonights episode! :yay:

I like the comparison between Amy/Ephram and Andie/Pacey. I can see that. I just compared it to Pacey/Joey. I think it's the whole cabin/fireplace thing that reminds me of "A Winter's Tale".

Wait, I haven't been watching since the beginning of the season and I am completely lost. Anne Heche is on the show now? What happened with Madison? I'm so lost!

Amazing episode. Being a huge fan of Ephram and Amy, it was great, but not just because of what happened in the end. It truly was about how it happened.

First, the two actors have amazing chemistry with each other. It was so incredible watching them in Amy's breakdown scene. It was so perfectly real. I love how understanding and caring Ephram was and how uncertain and ashamed Amy was. It was so real. She wasn't ready, yet she felt bad for him. It was perfect.

Secondly, the scene in the morning was perfect. It was romantic, amusing and REAL. I think that is what makes this show stand above the others. The scene was a nice segueway into what happened next, and I'm glad that they finally did it. Also, it showed those desperate E/A fans that they do have a lot of physical contact, but it isn't shown on screen. Wondered why Ephram removed his shirt at first, but then I realized how uncomfortable sleeping in the button down shirt would be. Also, I missed a second of dialogue, but the interaction when Amy went to lie on his chest was amazing.

Third, how amazing was Emphram's smile when Treat told Delia that she was never allowed to go camping? It was so great to see Amy's immense happiness with her parents, and the phone conversation at the end was perfect. :)

Who else think Rose and Harold had some action after we left them? Maybe that's why Rose was positively glowing along with Amy? Haha. I loved Patch in this episode. I loved the Patch/Rose interaction. They remind me in a warped way of Ephram and Amy.

Not loving Treat and Amanda, but their chemistry was flowing tonight just like everyone elses. The tension was incredible. I don't agree with it, but it was a beautiful and painfully real thing. I actually can feel their emotions and therefore it doesn't feel so far-fetched anymore. It still is horrible and tragic, but it's real.

Great episode. Probably the best of the Season so far. Almost perfect. It took a while to get going, but once it did it went right on track.

Derek.

So weird! I haven't either! I have some serious catching up to do!

So Amy and Ephram did it. Wow, I wasn't expecting that considering what she went through last season.

This episode was the best. I loved the greenies moments. Ephrum and Amy funny moments, i liked it when amy just asked ephrum why didnt they have sex and ephrum was taken by surprise and he didnt know what to say to amy.

I loved the cabin scene betweeen amy and ephrum, i htought it was the prefect seettign for them to have their first time. (Which at the time when they stopped i thought that was it) I loved how amy admited that shewas scared and that she felt she couldnt measure up to madison and ephrum just reassure her that everything was going to be ok and that was the most romantic scene ever. and i loved how she just let herself out there for ephrum.... and in the morning sceen was so sweet.

According to tvtome.com, there will be no other new episodes of Everwood until January 17th after next week's episode. Is it a possibility that the episodes from this season will be repeated?

I absolutely loved this episode, and I've never seen a "first time" between two young people in love handled in such a beautifully moving and sweet way. I'm going to write my episode commentary tomorrow, but I just wanted to say that Ephram and Amy are the most amazing couple that I've ever seen on a television show.

Okay I never post here, but I wanted to delurk and say that tonight was a wonderful episode. I think one of the best of the season. It had everything, romance, angst, and humor.

And Amy and Ephram were perfect. Every scene, every gesture, every word was right on point with these two.:sigh:

Great eppie! I wish I'd taped it. I guess I'll have to wait for the repeats.

jediwands 11-23-2004 03:31 AM

Jerry, I completely agree. I'm at a loss for words right now, which is huge for me, because I am usually all about babbling my thoughts without hesistation. But I completely concur with you. E/A are "IT" for me. I have never been so moved and in love with a tv couple, ever. :in_love:

I will come back tomorrow to post my thoughts whenever I have calmed down from the excitment of what I just witnessed on my tv screen tonight. :D Then I will write my novel.
