Episode Discussion: Ep #314- "Since You've Been Gone"
from thewb.com
Everwood: Since You've Been Gone Fresh | monday | 9/8c trailer Andy (Treat Williams) and Amanda (Anne Heche) decide that it's time to tell Delia (Vivien Cardone) and Charlie (guest star Shane Haboucha) about their relationship before they hear about it elsewhere, but Charlie's emotional reaction makes them question what they're doing. Meanwhile, when Hannah (Sarah Drew) doesn't jump at the opportunity to go on a date with a really cute guy from school, Amy (Emily VanCamp) is convinced that Hannah is misguidedly saving herself for Bright (Chris Pratt), and Nina (Stephanie Niznik) questions whether Sam (Jimmy Bennett) is going to be hurt again if her relationship with Jake (Scott Wolf) doesn't work out. Gregory Smith also stars. Barbie Kligman wrote the episode directed by Matt Shakman |

Why does Charlie's reaction suddenly knock some sense into them? Everyone else that has found out about it has had to figuratively pick themselves up off the floor, so I'm surprised that the prospect of scarring their kids is going to finally get through their thick skulls.

I agree. Actually, Andy/Amanda are complete morons if they thought that Charlie/Delia would be in favor of their affair. Especially Charlie. Did Amanda actually think Charlie was going to be cool with it? She really has lost her marbles if she thought Charlie would take the news well.
Man, Andy/Amanda are complete idiots. Seriously, it's like these two are both smoking some serious crack. Last edited by jediwands; 02-05-2005 at 06:41 PM |

I wonder why the episode is called "Since You've Been Gone"?
Although, I can't wait to see the kids yelling at A/A. Finally, maybe it will knock some sense into them. Andy is very much out of character this season, and hopefully Delia's reaction will wake him up. Only two episodes left after this one. I have a feeling a "bomb" is gonna be dropped soon. __________________

Shouldn't this episode be entitled The Calm Before The Storm?

Please, just get Andy/Amanda OVER WITH. It's disgusting, it really is.
Although Hannah/Bright might be cute, who knows? And I'm excited to see Charlie/Delia yelling at Andy/Amanda. Interesting.... aren't there any individuals on this show? Why is everyone coupled up?! PS - How often do you see 'Gregory Smith also stars' in an Everwood synopsis? __________________

I really enjoyed this episode. I still hate Amanda/Andy and I feel like they are just taunting us with the fact that they almost end it at the end of each episode, but I think I would hate her less had I known those things earlier in the season. Not positive.. but I think I might have. Also, I love Hannah. More to com later.

Wilpen - Wow, you've graduated from "blankdom" and added a sig quote. Now, all you need is an E/A avater.
This episode was incredibly moving and touching. And to all the people that hate Andy & Amanda (I am one of them, as well) I actually stopped judging them, and appreciated there scenes together tonight. And I find this new story arch very controversial, and cannot wait to see how the writers will handle her legal matters. The flashbacks were a nice touch, and put perspective into the title of the episode. Not much of Gregory Smith or Emily Van Camp this week, and I didn't really mind it. There are other people on this show, and if they can't think of a mini-drama to write for one episode, that's ok with me. Plus, now there are some storylines being evolved, especially Hannaha's. I found her rather amusing with her one-liners, but Im having trouble believing she would watch "Laguna Beach", now that's a bit of a stretch. And as for Nina and Jake, I actually was agreeing with Nina, and her fragile state. She has reason to worry, and she lost Carl, and she'll lose Jake, but Im glad she decided not to give up too soon for him to fall in love with her. I also appreciated how in the final break, Charlie was noticing his mother happier, and quite doesn't understand what is going on, but is glad to see her happy. That speaks volumes for me in terms of the writers not dumbneing down the kids on the show. Same goes for Delia. Remarkable episode, and next week's ... Harold tells Amy what we knew she was going to eventually find out all year. And ... she looks broken when everyone yells "Surprise!" __________________

Oh. My. God. Before I talk about the episode, the previews for next week just blew me away. Poor Amy. Harold is going to spill it about Madison, thus, Amy's tears. And did you see how Amy looked at Ephram whenever he walked in? Her heart was breaking in two. Okay, I have a feeling I am going to need extra kleenex next week.. Wow.
Regarding the episode.. Well, usually I save E/A for last but tonight, they were basically filler characters, and I'll just say that now I know why.. They will be front and center next week. So for this week, I'm glad that they were drama free as it seems as if they will have their hands full starting next week and probably many more episodes to follow. For me, Bright/Hannah dominated this episode. I love the potential with this couple. Whenever Hannah told Bright that she was scared to love someone because of the possibility of her having the disease, I completely lost it. Damn, Sarah Drew and her perfect acting. What a sad moment. And watching Bright was absolutely amazing. You could feel the deep caring he has for her. And how he took her to the exact spot where she tried to kiss him many months before and his speech to her about living life to the fullest and her deserving to meet someone and be loved by someone better than him, or whatever. OMG, what an incredible moment. Bright is sooooooo starting to have feelings for her! And the hug she gave him. Awww, they are so adorable! And I love that Bright is essentially the one that has enabled Hannah to have the courage to take the test. I just heart EVERYTHING about Bright/Hannah. Also, notice how the camera really panned in on Bright grabbing Hannah's hand as they went outside. You can just sense the hints and foreshadowing of a future romance between these two! I am so on board with this pairing. Bring it on! A/A.. The crazy thing about tonight is I was finding myself totally feeling for Amanda for the first time, ever. I mean, I'm still strongly against the A/A relationship but at least now, I understand why Amanda so easily pursued a relationship with Andy. Andy is the one that I still disrespect immensely. Charlie/Delia.. Totally felt for Charlie. I love Delia and all, but I was shocked that she made the comment to Charlie about his father barely being awake. That was bad.. Poor Charlie. Bright/Ephram.. Love how these two were just kicking back, relaxing and listening to tunes. When is the last time we've seen Bright/Ephram like this? It's so refreshing to see these two back in friends mode. That was funny whenever Amy came barging in pissed and Ephram said that one of them was in trouble! Then whenever Ephram finds out it's Bright, Ephram's all.. "That rules me out." Great stuff. Jake/Nina.. Cute. How adorable was it seeing Jake playing twister? Jake and his dimples get me every time. Even though I don't see Jake/Nina lasting super long, I think they are all kinds of cute. Overall, decent episode. Bright/Hannah were the stars for me and I loved every minute of them. I'm still in shock over the previews. I have a feeling EVC is going to act the crap out of Amy, as per usual, and make me cry right along with her. Well, this will be the first test of MANY for my E/A.. Let the fireworks begin.. Last edited by jediwands; 02-07-2005 at 08:49 PM |

I never post on the Everwood board, even though I ADORE the show, but tonight I wanted to, because of Bright/Hannah. I absolutely and completely love them together. There isn't a single thing about them that I don't like, and I am really rooting for them. I found myself crying a little when they were out on the porch, and I think my roommate thought I was crazy. But they're just so amazing together, and they see the best in each other. I also love Jake and Nina together, and she deserves to be happy. I hate Andy and Amanda together, and I want it to end, immediately, but tonight they were semi-tolerable.
All in all, another top notch episode. __________________
