Everwood: Where The Heart Is

Season Finale

With Ephram (Gregory Smith, who does not appear in the episode) gone and no longer feeling any significant ties to Everwood, Andy (Treat Williams) consults with Delia (Vivien Cardone) and contemplates accepting a prestigious position with a Chicago hospital. Uncharacteristically upset over this bit of news, Harold (Tom Amandes) takes it upon himself to give Andy a reason to stay. Meanwhile, Jake (Scott Wolf) moves in with Nina (Stephanie Niznik), causing Andy (Treat Williams) to question whether he should rock the boat by telling her how he really feels, and Bright (Chris Pratt) finally admits his feelings to Hannah (Sarah Drew).

Emily VanCamp, Debra Mooney, John Beasley and Merrilyn Gann also star. Rina Mimoun and Michael Green wrote the episode directed by David Petrarca.

One thing that I love while initially viewing this episode description is that Michael Green jointly wrote the episode with RM. I love Michael Green. He is a stud that wrote some great season 1 episodes. He knows his stuff and is well aware of the history on this show.

Two things that sadden me is the official notification that Greg Smith will not be in this episode. How weird is it going to be without Ephram's presence in a season finale? Another thing is that EVC appears to have less of a role in this episode. It seems clear that A/N/J and B/H are the main storylines in this episode. I just hope that EVC has a bigger role in this episode than it appears. Greg Smith not being in this episode at all, coupled with the possibility of EVC not having huge screentime seems off to me at first glance. I hope after viewing this episode, my mind changes and the absence of Greg along with the possibiliy of a limited EVC, will turn out to not be as depressing as it appears right now. I wouldn't have such a bad taste about it if this episode wasn't a season finale. Oh well, hopefully, I will be surprised and it won't be a big deal at all.

Woot! Bright is going to kiss Hannah! That's going to be great! I can't wait to see it. Bright has really changed for the better. So proud of him :)

I know, I cannot wait to watch this episode and see how it all works out. Andy can't get that job offer becuse then no one on the Brown family will live in Everwood.

I, along with every else, hopes that Emily will have a lot more on screen time than the synopsis for this episode, and the trailer, gives on. The last episode we saw really made me wonder if Amy is going to start spiring (sp?) again. I hope not, but if that should happen, we all know Emily can play that very well. I am also very curious to how Amy will be now that Ephram is gone and her mom is getting preped for some big time surgery. I'm surprised she hasn't lost it within the past few episodes!

I cannot wait to see Bright and Hannah get together. Although unless the actress who plays Hannah (spacing on her name) is signed up for next season, I don't think their romance will last long. I really hope this is not the case. In fact, I hope they sign her on to be a regular cast member for next season. I think we've all grown to love Hannah and I myself would love to see her character grow even more :)

Great news about Michael Green being one of the guys behind this episode! I hope they will realize and next seaosn begin to go back to how the show was in season 1, when they still juggled the humor and the drama and such.

Getting onto the Andy/Nina/Jake triangle. I love Jake. That I wanna make clear. His character I've grown to like, he makes Nina happy and he and Sam seem to be close. BUT! I have rooted for Nina and Andy since I first started watching, so that sort of over rules things, lol. I hope that by the next episode, Nina and Jake break up, and that it has nothign to do with Andy wanting Nina. But since this is a WB show, you know there's going to be angst and drama. I just hope that if/when Andy leans in to kiss Nina, she doesn't pull back and say, "I'm sorry, Andy. Your too late. I'm in love with Jake."

I really really hope that Andy does not perform this surgery on Rose. I think that it'd be a mad move and a big mistake if he does. But i have a feelin and am hoping that he does not and simply is there for Rose and assures her that this doctor will do right by Rose. Because if Andy does this, and messes up somewhere, I really dont think Amy will forgive him this time. This is sort of like strike 2 or 3 and if he messes up somewhere in this surgery, I don't see a happy Ephramy reunion:( On that note, I hope Rose comes out of this surgery okay because I really like her character; she's basically the backbone on the Abbott household. Well, actually, like she said before, she and Harold are one. They can't work without the other.

As far as Greg not being there.... omg it's going to be so weird! Greg/Ephram is just this huge presence on the show. I agree with what someone mentioned before (sry I just woke up, I'm really bad with remembering names here, lol) about Amy having some flashbacks so that we will have Greg/Ephram in the finale, even just a little.

Alrighty, well that's about all I ahve to say on this episode. Until after Monday night, that is. I'm looking forward to reading everyone else's thoughts and opinions :)

I can't wait. I have a exam th day after tomorrow for which I have to go back to uni for a night, and I can only get the ep after I get home...but knowing the ep will be there when I finish makes the day bearable!

I can see all the Harold/Andy shippers cheering when they see this line!

But on to more serious things... I am delighted that Michael Green co-wrote this episode. I'm spacing on the Season 1 eps he wrote, but all I remember is that he had a wonderful flavour for writing Everwood - he totally got what each character and the town was about.

Also, not having Ephram present in this episode is going to be ridiculously weird. Almost as weird as watching Everwood on Thursdays come September. :P Also, Amy having a small role will be interesting - I can't remember the last time when she WASN'T a major plot point in an episode. Also, I'm surprised they don't really mention anything about Rose's condition in the summary. Interesting...

But all I can say for Bright/Hannah is.... wheeeeee!!!!! :D

And yes, Sarah Drew (aka Hannah) is signed on for the fourth season as well, I believe. So all should go well (at least for the first couple of episodes ;)) in Bright/Hannah-ville.

Im acually ok with AVC not getting alot of screen time. Last season finale was very much basied on her and the idea that its baised on Nina and Andy or Bright and Hannah really is ok! Andy isn't going to take the job or if he is he will be back next season. Amy will be in Everwood too, but im not sure how yet. Its just they can't continue if all the Brown's and Amy aren't on the show. i predicate that Rose isn't going to die, but she will probably be parallzyed, cause in the Promo Harold looks pissed and if his wife died he probably would be sad.

jediwands 05-22-2005 08:45 PM

Great thoughts everyone! You can feel the energy circling around the finale tomorrow, given that we are discussing the episode before it even airs. Perfect.

froukje 05-23-2005 03:10 AM

yup, my guess is that rose makes andy promise to operate on her, he does, the cancer is removed, but she has spinal damage and is paralysed. harold is pissed that andy couldn't leave it be, but when ose wakes up she'll be able toconvince harold that she wanted andy to do it, and they ind out that the other surgeon would have left her confined to a wheelchair too...

COOLCAT200 05-23-2005 09:33 AM

Well, the 3rd season comes to an end tonight. Should be good with Bright and Hannah. Go Andy tell Nina! although I hope it's not too late.

~*twilight*to*starlight*~ 05-23-2005 10:25 AM

Did Andy promise to operate last epi? I thought he only promised to be in the room, but with the Harold comment from the promo it makes sense if he operated and something went wrong...

smoothaise 05-23-2005 10:26 AM

Another Everwood finale, ... I hope they don't kill Rose. I like/have liked her since she was introduced. I have a feeling froukje's theory will be right ... because it plays into the whole "Harold taking care of her" theme. Then again, they could throw a curve ball.

Bright and Hannah. Finally! This guy has never had anything good in his life ... (cept Prom) but, I'm glad he is finally going to have a "happy ending" ... or will he?

Andy and Nina. Another "Finally!" comes to mind. Although, they seem to be the less sure thing ... I have a feeling that all this will do is clarify both of them have feelings for eachother ... but they won't get together, just yet.

I'm actually glad Amy and Ephram don't have a major focus in this episode ... I think last week's was closure for not only the couple (for the season) but there characters. It's the chance for the others to shine and conclude the season.

I totally agree with you, Janelle. Michael Green was one of the best writers in season 1. His episodes were phenomenal. And remember, he also did "A Moment in Manhattan" aka "A Mountain Town" and we all loved how that played out, I think.

Thanks, Michelle, for starting the thread. I was so busy yesterday it seems.

I'll try to be around tonight but I have a week until a MAJOR project is due so I may be limited in my time here.

The Crow 05-23-2005 02:53 PM

I'm looking forward to this episode, but I'm also dreading it because I'm afraid Rose will be dead before the end....

She better not be though. D*** you Berlanti!!!!!!!!

Hehe.

:D
