Jerry, what is the reason why you guys in the Houston area, thankfully, are hardly ever hit by a major hurricane (you get the tropical storms/depressions)? My guess would be Houston is above sea level and relatively far inland?

We do get hurricanes, but by the time they get to our area, the winds have slowed down to a tropical storm or a tropical depression. It all depends where the storm comes in and how intense it is in the Gulf of Mexico before it gets here.

Oh okay, I see. I have no idea what a hurricane is like. I couldn't even imagine.

Hurricanes can do an incredible amount of damage due to the wind speed. Roofs can be blown off, trees can be toppled over, and the amount of destruction can be devastating. On top of that you have torrential rain and flooding. I've been through a few hurricanes here, but by the time they reached us the wind speed had died down so we didn't have any damage to our house, and we're not in a flood prone area so we've been lucky.

Wow, how awful. I remember when parts of the Houston area a couple years back were really flooded? Do you remember what storm I’m thinking of? I remember then you said thankfully your area did not get severe flood damage.

Found a Clinic!

I am so excited. I know that this was my Mom. OK, I actually was seeing a specialist for my dental issues and paying out of the pocket. I didn’t like my options under my insurance. Put it this way… just for a exam that took about five minutes and an x-ray (panoramic) it cost me 250 bucks. The next appointment was going to be close to $800. I had an appointment set up for tomorrow morning at 8 o’clock. Out of the blue I thought to call my insurance today and just ask again about clinics. I figured I called five weeks ago, though, and there was no way things would change and I'd have better options. But I kept hearing this voice inside my ear telling me to call. So I did. Sure enough, I can’t believe it but there is a clinic that handles precisely what I need to have done! Not only that, they do everything there. There’s specialists all under one roof (general dentists, surgeons, root canal specialists, denture specialists, implant specialists, etc), AND there are four locations. The best part... they have Saturday hours. If you have an emergency they have emergency walk-in hours 9 to 4 Saturday and Sunday as well. I’m like in a state of shock that this clinic is available! I never would have imagined! I have an appointment for 9 AM Saturday morning. I have dental anxiety or anxiety going to doctors to begin with so my Dad will be able to go with me (he'll just sit in the waiting room but just his presence helps). I was telling my sister about this and the first thing she said was Mom was in my ear telling me to call my insurance again. It is exactly what I thought as well! It’s just funny coming from my sister because she’s a Scientist. Then again, this very scientist has had moments where she has also seen our Maternal Grandmother and has felt our Mom around constantly. When she was actually giving birth to Anna, she saw our Grandmother in the hospital room. Not kidding. If you know my sister who is super scientific… she is Spiritual as well but still... for my sister, the Scientist, to say that she saw our Grandmother? She saw our Grandmother. We compared what she looked like because I also saw my Grandmother when Anna was only one month old and I was watching her. I was on the couch at my sister's (Anna was sleeping away in the crib a room away)... I was watching TV... the rocking chair was not far from the TV... my eyes went there suddenly and our Grandmother was just sitting there in a rocking chair (she looked to be in her 50s, she died in her 90s), I saw her for a second, blinked and she was gone. My sister saw our Grandmother was she was giving birth to Anna... out of the corner of her eye she saw our Grandmother and she heard her say Everything is going to be fine and then she disappeared.

I feel really happy and blessed that I found this clinic. This will save me about $2000, at least! I research everything and I read about 200 reviews so far of this clinic and out of five stars everyone has given them 4.5 or above averaging out to 5 stars. The only negative is the four clinics they have are not super close... the closest is 20 minutes, the other three are about 30 minutes, not too bad though considering.

Yes, that was during Hurricane Harvey, which was two years ago.

It's okay. Japan is late on getting data to us and the customers are all over me, so that hasn't been fun.

Funny story: My boss had our draftsman, who is Vietnamese, create a drawing for us because we couldn't wait for Japan to do it, and my boss kept changing his mind about what he wanted on the drawing, and so the draftsman had to keep re-sending the drawing again and again, and so he sent us an e-mail with the drawing and he said "I hope that this is the last revision!" So I went over and said "Sorry about that" and he said, with his heavy Vietnamese accent, "Why your boss keep changing his mind? This is the 5th time he made me change this drawing this morning! Why can't he figure out what he wants one time instead coming back again and again?" and I laughed and said "That's Fernando!" and he just smiled.

My boss drives everyone crazy!

I almost spit out my diet coke while reading this.

It is SO great that at least your boss doesn't just annoy you. There is safety in numbers.

What's amazing is the strength of a boss is to be able to make firm, confident, correct decisions. This flighty approach with your boss is not a good trait to have given his position within the company. Does he lack confidence in his decisions or is he a perfectionist to the point of it being a negative trait?

He's a perfectionist to the point of it being a negative trait, plus he never takes the time to look at something thoroughly, so he has all of us do extra work as he changes his mind.

That sucks. He's the worst kind of leader. How was he ever hired in a leadership role? I am sure they like how he works long hours and seems loyal and dedicated, but his other traits are just not good. LOL.
