For me however Naley is one of the most successful TV couple because they managed to get them married in Season 1 and make them last 8 another seasons. Yes they had their problems and I respect everyone that found them boring, but to me they were refreshing because I see TV angst all the time in all shows. The main couple always goes through this in all shows. Naley were different in this aspect and yet they were still quite passionate.

Indeed they had nice mix between being romantic and gentle and being sexy and lusty. That being said the problem for me with Naley was that they didn't have enough scenes after Season 5. This is why I stopped watching OTH. Naley were my first couple in this show and they just didn't have enough scenes in Season 6 to hold my interest. Nathan had scenes and Haley had scenes, but they weren't together. I didn't see them as a couple. Not enough for my interest.

That being said there are some scenes in the end of Season 6 that are so good, but I prefer to just watch them in youtube and not the whole episodes.
I'll be honest my biggest problem with naley in s4 is that I can see the age difference between joy and james. It's less in your face in s5/6/7. They have decent chemistry but they just didn't have that spark for me. I just felt sort of indifferent to them at times.

You know I never thought about that . I mean technically I know that James is younger than Joy, but I never thought about that when I watched them. I guess I was just entranced enough to them to not care about that .

I do get why not all people would enjoy them though. For some reason though I was just all for them the first time I saw them interacting in the first season when Haley started tutoring him. Even then when I knew that he was a total jerk I rooted for him to change and then have something with Haley.

I guess to each their own though. OTH had enough couples for people to like and care about and choose.

Is there a reason why you liked them more than Brulian? I read that you found their story interesting and sweet. I don't know anything about Brulian. I mean I know what's Julian's role in Season 6, but I don't know how the story unfolds.

Koni....you need to watch season 6 with us and find out! Neither Michelle nor I know the build up to Brulian.

I really felt like I connected to their story in s6/7. I think it was partly watching them be a young family. I enjoyed how Nathan tried to go back and finish college and how he was there for Haley during her depression. I just felt like they worked so much better when they stopped the lame drama they created for them. Brulian where okay. But, I think they over-emphasized Julian being a geek in high school to the point that it got ridiculous. Plus I felt like their storyline with trying to have a child fit more with a couple in their thirties than mid twenties. I just connected more to Later Naley than early-naley.

Yeah, but there is too much drama for me to handle in the late OTH seasons. Actually there was always enough drama. I just got enough for the first 4 seasons and I prefer to stay away from it because this type of drama drains me and it makes me grumpy and annoyed at the characters and I start to get really sassy and cruel when discussing them .

Shu I agree with you that they created too much drama for Naley in Season 5 and part of Season 6. I always thought that Nannie Carrie was totally unneeded. Nathan's injury was sufficient to create realistic drama and there was no need for the Carrie storyline. If they had played out Nathan's depression and struggles differently they would have had far more interesting season and story IMO.

Haley's depression was also very realistic story. I've watched clips about this and I think that they had to stick for stories like that for Naley. It worked better this way.

I do like both early and late Naley though. For different reasons, but I love them both. However I cringed at the Nannie Carrie story.

To be honest I never felt authentic and realistic the fact that Brooke wanted a kid at that age no matter the cost. And this is another reason why I didn't find Season 5/6 interesting. Brooke was 24 years old, not 40. I didn't get the whole idea of her wanting to have a kid without finding a person to actually raise this kid with. I didn't get this story.

I think S2 and S5 just soured me on them and it was nice that s6 and 7 made me feel them again. Brulian are interesting and unexpected. I still think the series should have ended in s6. that finale was perfect.

I didn't have that much problem with Season 2 because to me it was realistic. I might be Naley fan, but I still think that they married too soon. They didn't know each other that well and they were too young to get married. It was normal for them to hit the hard times and realize that they do have their differences. They weren't enough together as a couple to get to really know each other and know how to deal with situations like that. They were also too young and went from one extreme to another. Nathan wasn't correct giving Haley ultimatums and Haley could have found better way to follow her dreams. However they were 16 years old teens and teens usually deal with life like that.

Season 5 drama is totally different matter. I seriously prefered stopped watching than having to get disappointed in Naley. Since they are my favorite couple I didn't want that, but I didn't like this Season 5 story at all. I mean the Carrie stuff. The rest I got. It was in Nathan's character to get depressed like that after the injury. The Carrie thing was hard to take and it undermined their story a bit for me.

I ship Nathan/Haley and love them too. I see passion as far as their love, I am talking about how I FEEL when I watch them. It's different than what I feel when I watch Lucas/Peyton. They are two completely different couples in how they originate and behave from start to finish and I think it's why I have two different responses to both pairings but like I said... I love both. When Nathan/Haley were strained when Haley went on tour I was miserable that they were apart and frustrated as they were still strained when she returned straight up until they reunited. Then I could relax again when they got back together. Like I said, Lucas/Peyton and Nathan/Haley are two different couples as a whole so my reaction is different which makes sense. Lucas/Peyton were the Ephram/Amy of the series, Mark's ultimate couple and this is the type of pairing I ideally grab onto and emotionally connect with. Nathan/Haley were the relatively stable couple that sustained (even with a few unrealistic factors such as Nathan being the badboy and doing a 180 and changing so drastically, or getting married at 16, pregnant at 17) and made it last during the largest chunk of the series. They were constructed differently and thus, I had two very different reactions to both pairings. But I loved and shipped both.

Sure! I'll help you kill this!

Michelle....I love them both, too!!! No question. Their relationships definitely had a different path..and their relationship is a different style, but I enjoy both of them for what they are and I would have these couple be with anyone else.
