We used to be friends ~ The Syd/Will/Francie Appreciation & Discussion
I'm surprised there isn't a thread about this already... So, do you all miss Will and Francie? Some people seem to think that Alias went downhill after their departure, although they weren't really involved in the main plot. What do you all think? Did they bring something special to the show? Whate are your favorite S/W/F moments? Discuss! __________________

I've ALWAYS loved Sydney & Francie and always will. I'm definitely one of the biggest shippers.
I was thinking about starting a thread like this a few months ago, but decided that since Alias had ended I wouldn't...but glad you did anyway! I'm not the biggest fan of Will and didn't care much for him, but I loved his relationship with Francie and I believe those two could've lasted if Francie hadn't been killed by Alison. My favorite Sydney & Francie moment is...hm...well, one of my favorites are when Sydney comes home to Thanksgiving and Francie has burned the turkey. SYDNEY: Francie? FRANCIE: Okay, were you ever going to call me back? SYDNEY: I'm sorry. FRANCIE: You can't just disappear on me like that! SYDNEY: What's burning? FRANCIE: It's just a little oven fire. SYDNEY: Francie, I just moved in here! FRANCIE: I fricasseed the turkey. You okay? SYDNEY: I'm glad to be home. FRANCIE: Okay, but the turkey is really burning. I mean, it's burning. SYDNEY: Oh, great, Francie... what'd you do? I think Francie meant A LOT to Sydney and when Francie died, a piece of the show and Sydney died. __________________

Thanks for the thread McDreamy .
Myself, I like Syd/Francie more. I like Will but at times he really does annoy me. and I love Francie. I was so sad when she was killed. to me, Syd/Francie are BFF's. I know Syd/Will are but because I think different in Alias and Will annoys me at times, I prefer Syd/Francies friendship. and I agree Joella btw, francie meant alot to syd. Favorites scenes? Thats hard. May need to get back on you for that. I don't think the show got worst when she was killed off really. I love that scene you posted caps for Joella. |

Joella, I love the scene you posted! Such a classic moment.
Carol, glad you like the thread! I do think we used to have one a long time ago. Tes!, I can understand why Will could annoy you, I didn't like him at all in the beginning. He grew on me though. I also loved the Will/Fran scenes in s1, before the whole Alison and making out thing. Like when he told her about the spy bug and she teased him about it and asked the bug what dress she should pick. And he was like "Fran, it's not a Magic 8 Ball!". __________________

Even in the pilot this wonderful dymanic of friendship was set up with Syd calling Francie on her phone to get Francie to call her back to distract the bad guy
And Will trying so hard to be a good friend and decipher who killed Danny. __________________

JJ Abrams knows who to write for a group of friends. Look at Felicity, and just how all of them got along and played off eachother. I cherished any episode of Felicity involving everyone in Sean's loft, because the actors chemistry with eachother felt so natural. I can also say the same thing with his new show, What About Brian.
With Alias, it was all about finding that balance...and for those two years, they had a nice balance of Syd's personal vs. professional life. It worked. The actors made it work...it seemed so natural. Jennifer/Merrin were acting like sisters...they just knew eachother. And it felt like they've known Will for years and years. It truly was remarkable what JJ accomplished with them... __________________

It's not odd that season 3 had bad ratings, since Francie and Will were gone.
Merrin and Jennifer had an awesome chemistry. I loved that she was back for the finale, even if the scene wasn't really Sydney/Francie centric. __________________

I loved their friendship, it was always nice that Syd had friends like that that she could come home to and just be normal. I really missed them when they left, especially Will

There was definitely something missing after Will & Francie left the show... They did try to bring it back with Nadia and Rachel but nothing worked like the original concept.

Ya it was nice to get some sense of that back with Nadia and Rachel but nothing would ever take the place of the original three

They really shared a special bond. I wish we'd gotten more mentions of Will & Francie in the latter seasons... They were such a big part of Syd's life.
