I feel like almost everything... and anything at random So far she sent one or two songs of various bands, usually the MV and a live version so I can compare It all started with a song featuring the line "hashtag cookiejar" which annoyingly stuck in my head for like 2 days, went on to "beagledols (what does that mean???)" singing about "feeling good", "piano men" and being "1 cm taller" and as of yesterday cumulated in a video of a girl band murdering pizza delivery guys for sport so... so far so good

Let's see if I can list some of the bands from memory

For Japanese stuff, she sent songs from Kalafina (Woa!), Wagakki Band, Babymetal (perfect if you want a certain dose of anger, but also don't want to forego cuteness and/or traditional Japanese music), Nana Mizuki (I thought her songs are not something you can listen to in the background, you actually have to listen)
Now that I think about it, only one of those is actually sort of "pop music", I guess

For Korean stuff, I got videos from MAMAMOO, 2NE1, CL, Red Velvet, Twice, 4Minute, Momoland, Blackpink, AOA, SNDS and the suspiciously similar Girls Generation... is one of those a sub unit of the other or something? I didn't watch any of the (admittedly far fewer) boy band songs she sent since I don't really care for those...

There's a lot of stuff I have to google about all of this once I have time...

I also found out what the beagledol thing meant - it's not a Korean word, but kind of a nickname for MAMAMOO since the group is hyper like beagles Searched for some videos of them to confirm - instant mood enhancement

Even without their antics, I like them best out of all the bands my friend has picked so far I enjoyed every single song The other bands were way more hit and miss We'll see how the journey continues - there's still 3 weeks left til my vacation after all

and while you mentioned certain Japanese groups, Dreamcatcher is the closest that K-Pop gets to that.

Yeah, I think I'm going to need a bit time to process all of this I think I've not heard that much new (non-classical) music in quite a while So far I tend to dislike songs that are aggressively "cutesy" and I seem to prefer small groups over big ones...

I like that Girl's Day one they changed their sound once (and most people didn't like it, so they switched back), but it's my favourite.
