Sydney, Will and Francie all play mini golf together. Sydney's jogging around, having fun. Vaughn watches from nearby, smiling. Sydney laughs and takes another shot. Vaughn leaves.

He gives Sydney a half smile, which she returns. We can tell they are both thinking of the trip they were supposed to go on three years ago.
Vaughn: I had this whole romantic weekend planned. Presidential Suite at the Biltmore, candlelit dinner on the cliffs overlooking the ocean... So we went into town, and she wouldn't stop talking about the zoo. So, we went to the zoo. Figured I'd get it overwith. And then I saw how happy it made her. It made me forget about all my stupid plans. And here we had this personal chef making this unbelievable meal at the hotel, and... (pauses) I proposed on one knee in sawdust in front of a giraffe with a crooked neck.
Vaughn gives Sydney this very intense look and she stares back at him, clearly enthralled by his story.

Because they were supposed to go to Santa Barbara (4.05)

Sydney: The story you told at the dealership...
Vaughn nods. Sydney slides a hand down Vaughn's cheek and he leans in to drop a kiss on Syd's neck.
Sydney: We were supposed to go to Santa Barbara three years ago...and we never made it.
Vaughn shakes his head as if to say "No, but..."
Vaughn (in soft, loving voice): Karen and Dave did.
Syd and Vaughn stare lovingly at each other for a long moment and smiling before kissing passionately again.

Because they have operational control of the airplane and decide to have dinner in Paris (4.05)

nbsarah Personally I like the idea of the quotes or reasons list.... I think it would help any new people understand why Syd/Vaughn belong together. However, I think it is up to us all to decided if we want to add it. Again, what does everyone think?

I think anything the things that accumulated on this thread as Sydney and Vaughn's relationship progressed through seasons one and two are more important than anything. These are the kinds of things that will help any new people understand the relationship. You can't really get S/V if you just watch the DVDs consecutively, or if you started watching S3. Quotes are nice and all, but I mean, newbies can just buy the DVDs if they really care.

Now that our thread is going to be no longer cringeworthy (YAY!) I think that we should slap a new rating on the thread and put it in the title- G! This is a place I wouldn't mind even my Grandparents seeing!

Hi all.

I'll try explain where our suggested changes came from. Several of us have been posting on the this thread for quite some time. Just for clarification I called us the "newer" one and the "original" posters the "original" or "older" ones. This doesn't mean that the "newer" ones are necessarily newbies or that we haven't been posting her for a long time or that we are even young, just as it didn't mean that the original posters are older, etc.

As we've been chatting about the show, the characters, etc. over the last several months, we realized that the thread just wan't what the opening post represented. In fact, I don't think it has been in quite some time. Several people suggested we change it. I agreed. However, I did not want to just take over the thread and not get input from people who had been away. We certainly could have just continued as we were and none of the "orginial" posters would have had any idea of the changes we were considering until they arrived in Jan. I didn't think that was fair, so I wanted to PM who I could find.

I PMed the people who had posted on the last thread, which ran from about April or May, when the show was still airing. Then I also PMed a few people who I was suggested to PM. I certainly didn't mean to not include anyone.

However, I thought it only fair that all the GAs talk and see what we wanted to do with the thread. I assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that everyone was willing to make some changes. I guess I thought the opening posts changed periodically anyway with suggestions from new posters, etc.

After all, we all ship Sydney/Vaughn, and we are a community. I figured we could consider the old thread opening post and also consider the ideas of the newer ones. I may have been wrong.

One of my suggestions had been to have two different threads, though that seems rather crazy. Part of the difference may lie in the "raunchinees" or rating of the thread, but part of the difference also lies in the welcoming of ideas and changes.

I think the easiest thing to do is compromise, as I think the newer posters on here have been saying, and revamp the opening thread to include some ideas of the newer posters. However, if the majority does not want these changes, we can deal with that.

I'm chatting with my co-mod to see her opinion. We don't want to alieante anyone or leave anyone out. That is why I wanted to draw the people who hadn't posted in a long, long time back and get their opinions. I didn't want it to appear that we had made all kinds of changes while they were gone.

What is so sad is that while I was trying to include everyone and be diplomatic about this, people viewed this as an attack and talked negatively about us. I realize those "talks" were on another thread, so it is none of my business I suppose. However, that is why I PMed as many people as I could and that is why I posted ideas and asked for suggestions on here -- I wanted people to be honest with me; if you don't want change, let us know by posting here.

I'm hoping we can get all of this resolved.

I went ahead and posted your banner in the opening. It's great! and we had no others.

I'll wait a bit and see what my co- mod says, but I do think we have the right to change the opening how we see fit. I was just wanting to involve everyone.

I'd like to add the new ideas....we probably want to delete some of my quotes so it's not so long.

Hmmm..... something else just occured to me. What rating is FF? PG? I need to check that. I don't want us getting in trouble if the opening post is too explicit for the general FF audience. If so, then we certainly need to change it. I'll check this out.
