Wtf is Jack's problem! It's pretty sad when Vaughn (a guy she only recently met and formed a friendship with) holds her life in higher priority than her own father does. Jack is making me so mad in this episode! If I believed there was even a chance a hit was put out on my kid, I'd pull her/him out no hesitation!

The situation with Jack is very frustrating and complicated, but he really really cares about her (you'll see that later on)

I'm with Jack on this though - Syd would have never accepted that option and they would have known she was the mole immediately, too. Merely being alive doesn't have any meaning to her - not now and not after all the terrible things that happened Vaughn doesn't understand that and he's totally clueless about Sloane and the Alliance, too

And that's just me, but there's no hiding from Arvin Sloane. She wouldn't have been safe either way

When you explain it like that, it does make sense. Jack is just frustrating as a father in general. It seems like it's always so easy for him to just turn Sydney away or be unavailable to her. I'm still in the first season...but I'm wondering if maybe he had something to do with what happened to her mom. He's just one big mystery lol. There are times when I see that he loves her and others...I'm just very unsure.

Oh, you're observation really nailed an important part of the issue here They'll address this problem over the course of the 5 seasons though and many things will become clearer
You'll learn more about Syd's mum soon (in S1) It's worth watching
He is That's what makes him a great character And like a lot of people in Alias he's morally ambiguous - he might be on the side of the good guys, but he (and basically everyone else as well) is not only using ethical "good" methods to achieve his goals

The Bristow family situation and its development over the course of the show in general are very complex and really awesome to watch So, have fun!
