Thesps added to cast for 3D version of classic tale

Orlando Bloom and James Corden have joined the cast of Paul W.S. Anderson's 3D version of "The Three Musketeers" for Constantin Film and Impact Pictures.

Bloom will play the Duke of Buckingham while British comedian Corden will portray the servant Planchet. Bloom recently completed work on "The Good Doctor," in which he stars and produces.

Previously announced cast for "Musketeers" includes Christoph Waltz as Cardinal Richelieu; Logan Lerman as D¹Artagnan; Matthew MacFadyen, Ray Stevenson and Luke Evans as Athos, Porthos and Aramis, respectively; Milla Jovovich as M¹lady De Winter; and Mads Mikkelsen as Rochefort.

Summit has slated "Musketeers" for a summer 2011 U.S. release and Constantin will distribute in Germany. Summit sold out all territories at Cannes.

Screenplay's adatpted from the Alexandre Dumas' novel by Andrew Davies and Alex Litvak. Anderson is also

producing, along with Impact partner Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer of Constantin.

Warner Bros. signed Doug Liman last month to direct its version of Alexandre Dumas' adventure tale, which is being aimed for a fall production start.

Earlier this month, we reported on Paul WS Anderson choosing a varied cast for his 3D version of The Three Musketeers, and left dangling one more rumour-laden possibility: Orlando Bloom as the Duke of Buckingham. It’s no longer a rumour, as Variety reports Bloom is aboard.

It’s interesting to see Bloom play what,more of a villanous character and one mixed in with a sprawling ensemble. There’s Matthew Macfadyen, Ray Stevenson and Luke Evans as the titular sword-swingers, Christoph Waltz as the conniving Cardinal Richelieu, Mads Mikkelsen as the evil Rochefort Logan Lerman as D’Artagnan and Anderson muse/wife Milla Jovovich as what promises to be an even more arse-kicking Milady De Winter than usual

Alongside Bloom, James Corden has also signed on to play Planchet, who ends up acting as servant to our heroes. And finally, we have Juno Temple, who’s pondering the role of Queen Anne

With a script by TV stalwart/Bridget Jones's Diary scribe Andrew Davies and Predators’ Alex Litvak, it’ll start shooting in September, aiming to beat Doug Liman and Warners’ take on the tale to cinemas with a planned summer 2011 release date.
