Elizabethtown: Because He Replaced Ashton Kutcher

It's official: Orlando Bloom is appearing in Cameron Crowe's "Elizabethtown" starring Kirsten Dunst. He's replacing Ashton Kutcher, who was supposedly let go because he wasn't a good actor, but now he's saying it was because of a scheduling conflict.

I'll just hold my tongue in case there are any Ashton fans here.

I think it's cool that Orli's working with his GAP ad director.

Orlando has been working with some great directors, hasn't he? Damn him.

Plot: After causing the Oregon shoe company he works for to lose hundreds of millions of dollars, Drew Baylor (Bloom) is fired for his mistake, and promptly also dumped by his girlfriend, Ellen. On the verge of suicide, Drew is oddly given a new purpose in life when he is brought back to his family's small Kentucky hometown of Elizabethtown following the death of his father, Mitch, as it falls to him to make sure that his dying wishes are fulfilled. On the way home, Drew meets a flight attendant, Claire Colburn (Dunst), with whom he falls in love, in a romance that helps his life get back on track.

Great news! I like Kirsten Dunst pretty well, too. The storyline sounds good. Cameron Crowe is a fantastic director, as well.

The movie sounds extremely promising.

And heh. Ashton. I'm glad he was replaced. [no offense to his fans]

I'm excited for this. A comedy? I'd love to see Orlando show his comedic talent..

And I love Cameron Crowe so.. yay!

Xan, where did you hear that news? Last I heard Orlando was in talks to star in the film, but nothing has been confirmed, and certainly not by the trade papers.

OB Multimedia. And Variety seems to consider Orlando as the lead already; they had a list of "upcoming/to-film projects" and Elizabethtown is listed as starring Kirsten and Orlando.

Full Bloom has added an Elizabethtown page to the site. You can keep track of all the latest news there, including casting, filming, and release dates.
