From reading that tv guide article, they were saying the show ran dry long before it's final schmaltzfest.
So there saying the whole show, not just the finale.

All I know is I didn't like them killing off Jen's character in the finale, and how they ended it with P/J. Wrong on both counts in my eyes...

In my opinion that finale ended right after the last D/J scene for me, my favorite scene ever from DC.
James and Katie looked so beautiful and emotional when they were in that scene...

Also the tv finale stunk.
The way they cut out the Meredith {Andie} scene, and the D/J gastation scene, how dare they...
Thank God the dvd of the finale put those cut scenes in

For the D/Jer's who didn't get their finale on dvd.
Get it, you'll love the D/J gastation scene

I agree with you. But to me if they were not going to End it with D/J like I wanted id rather them have ended it with D/JEN. I love Jen and after 6 seasons I did not like seeing her have to die. I posted in the DVD forum how I would of ended it if it was not going to be Dawson and Joey.Oh and I love the gas station scene as well.

I really wish that they would have ended the series finale with Dawson and Jen together as well. It would have been so great for Dawson to realize that it had been Jen, and not Joey, that he had really loved all along.

Dawson & Jen together would've been perfect. They should have let her live. Then in the last scene, had HER walk out as the phone was ringing. She was so good in Season 2 as the associate producer for Dawson's film. She kept things running. I'd have been very pleased if they'd let her fill that role in the finale as well.

Yeah Jerry thats how I said it should have ended if they were not gonna end it with D/J. I dont know I can say he has loved her all along and not Joey. But the D/Jen ending could have worked.

As last eva finales go I think that Dc was the best and Buffy was the worst.
Didn't really think much of the BtVS finale 2 b perfectly honest.

Sooo....did they watch the finale. I mean giving Dawson's Creek worst and BtVS best? Are you sure that's not a mix up. 'Cause in my oh so humble opinion DC is probably one of the best finale's I've ever seen and BtVS was severly dissapointing.

[Please do not generalize. Generalizations on this board are going to get edited. Contrary to popular belief, fanbases do not share brains - Sugz]

And as far as the finale of Buffy goes,I have no comment because I dunno how it ends??

Maybe T.V. Guide meant that the show having to end was one of the worst things to happen, and not that it was a bad final episode?

I have to agree that the Buffy finale was a bigger disappointment to me than DC because to me Buffy was a far superior show and so I thought it deserved a better send off than the one it got. Did the X-files end in 2003 because if it did then it takes the honour of worst show finale.
The DC finale may have been far from perfect and I don't think the writers desperate need to keep Joey's choice a secret till the absolute last minute helped matters, but Joey finally made her choice and we got to see where everyone ended up and that they atleast were happy even if some of us weren't happy for them.

Oh well, they said why. Because DC had worn out its welcome long before the finale.

What'd you think it was?

I was also disappointed in the Buffy The Vampire Slayer finale. We had seen a huge build-up all season to lead to what should have been a climactic confrontation between Buffy and the First Evil, but the actual confrontation ended up being very disappointing, and a great show ended on a rather unsatisfactory note for me.

In comparison, I rather enjoyed the Dawson’s Creek finale, although I found it emotionally unsatisfying on certain levels, but I do think that it was better than the Buffy finale. Still though, Dawson’s Creek had worn out its welcome a long time ago, so I simply didn’t expect as much out of its finale as I did the Buffy finale, so I wasn’t as disappointed, and a mediocre show ended on a somewhat satisfactory note for me.

What???It was a GREAT finale! There was Krycek,CSM,The Lone Gunmen,Spender,etc....all the important characters of the show were there.I thought it was like a tribute to the show.Plus, the last scene of the series is SO beautiful. As much as S9 "sucked"(compared with the other seasons with Mulder),"The Truth" is one of the best X-Files ep,ever. It's in my top 10

IMO one of the worst finale was the Ally McBeal one, which really was depressing and the show was supposed to be funny...and the Buffy one was a bit disappointing.

What I liked in the DC finale is that it didn't come out of nowhere. The writers stayed true to the characters, the relationships....and to the spirit of the show. There was a continuity, even with the 5 years leap.
