And why like, even when they had to "hate" each other, there was something there.
I think he did say that. They were very natural and I noticed more tactile with each other than anyone else as well. When Joey finished kissing him she would keep a hand on his neck or on his face and she would rub his cheek with her thumb. Pacey would run his fingers through her hair and he ran his hands down her thighs a couple of times.

I could never see why they were referred to as hating each other. They got on each other's nerves, yes, but unless he was directing a zinger her way Joey was usually laughing or smiling indulgently at the things he would say or do. Not too mention all the times they were there for each other and how nice she was to him after he kissed her the very first time. But yes, I agree msstock, they had wonderful chemistry no matter the content of the scene. That's why no other pairing could have pulled off an entire episode. The D/J part of Four Stories was quite long enough, and I would have gotten restless after about twenty minutes of Jack and Jen, and I loved Jack and Jen.

(BTW, I am still working on the Survivor. The most time-consuming part is transcribing the scenes. Starting tomorrow I'm going to do it during my lunch breaks to try and speed things up. My apologies again!)

Transcribing is time-comsuming. There's always transcript sites even though you have to double check if the quotes are correct. I always go that easy way.

I agree, saying Pacey and Joey hated each other is OTT. They banter but when it came down to it, they both complimented the other. Like in S1 when they both told the other they would get out of Capeside when they didn't think they would.

And like Andie says in "Show Me Love" which I just finished watching, she says Hate is a pretty strong word.

I don't think they actually hated each other, they were just rivals for Dawson's friendship really. Dawson did however, say that they couldn't stand each other, so there was that perception at some point.

I don't think they ever hated each other. They bantered, but they always did no matter what.

I think they considered each other friends when it mattered the most, but I think Dawson labeled them "mortal enemies" in the tight-knit group. They just became used to that perception.

I think for kids, hate is an easy word to throw around and I bet they disliked each other and argued so much that it seemed like hate when they were growing up. I feel like all love/hate relationships are never truly hate, but they just don't get along for the longest time or have a strong dislike of each other for whatever reason, but there isn't true hate and then it is quite easy to fall in love then.

I mean after season 1 PJ were never had that biting tone with each other again. Like they insulted each other - Double Date is the best example - but that DD ep is also a good example of them being able to easily get along once they opened up to each other and let their prickly exteriors around each other drop.

And I think by season 2 Pacey had grown so much and so had Joey that that petty childhood "hatred" just didn't matter to them anymore. They still had the banter but in season 3 it was so much more flirty and teasing than actual barbs meant to hurt. And sexual tension, too .

I love couples that have some friendly, flirty banter. It makes them more spicy and not so vanilla. I agree, I liked their flirty teasing and banter. Even having some of it when they were an actual couple. Like in The Longest Day. Their banter while their making out is so cute but them. "Yeah I guess this is kind of embarrassing huh? Especially for you, given how much you protested." "I did not protest." "You did too..." It's so cute.

good point. When Pacey gives her a compliment about when they are in the car, she looked happy and then opened up to him later in the house when they were in the kitchen. I don't think she was use to him being nice to her. For the first few episodes, they insult each other. As the season moves along, they were there for each other even with the banter

agree. In ETWI, he said she was quite the skittish kitten and then she was blushing and then playfully hip bumps him. In season 1, she would never have reacted like that

I loved that kind of banter. As their relationship evolved, so did their banter.

I love their evolving banter. Remember that scene at the beginning of "Falling Down" when he teases him about being a gas attendant and he calls her a hussy.
