[2x09] "The Election" February 9th - February 22nd
The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread "The Election" ~ 2x09 Synopsis: Andie's decision to run for student council lands her on a campaign trail of tears when Abby begins advertising her family situation. Jen helps Dawson take steps to deal with his powerlessness over his parents divorce and tries to teach him how to be a teenager. Jack shuts out Joey during a family crisis.  We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new things we never noticed before. We will watch one episodes every two weeks. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode. We will update this thread every second Friday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion can take place in here too. Have Fun!  __________________

 - Dawson and Jen are so cute in this episode! I love them. - When Dawson chickens out on stealing the lipstick.  - When they go skinny dipping!  - When Dawson finally lets Jen be the shoulder to cry on.  - I feel so bad for Andie in this episode.  I love that Pacey gets Abby back for it, mwaha.__________________

Who doesn't ship Dawson/Jen hardcore in the election? Watching them in season 5 reminds me of this episode.

I love Dawson and Jen in this episode - that skinny dipping moments is one of my favourite moments of season 2 and of their relationship
 I absolutely love Pacey here, he's such a great boyfriend to Andie, I loved what he did. And poor Andie, I felt really bad for her, it must be so horrible to be confronted about such sensitive and private problems in front of the whole school __________________

I know right, what Abby did was totally uncalled for. I'm glad that Pacey was able to humiliate Abby in front of the whole school as well. Actually, she did it herself. I'm sure afterwards, everyone in the school really didn't like her.

I liked Jen critiquing Dawson's script at the beginning! I loved that she was brave enough to be honest. Not that she had bad things to say but still I thought it was good she spoke her mind. In the long run its only going to help Dawson!
Love Andie going for it in the election, but what Abby did was so mean  I love Jen encouraging Dawson to be a teenager! And then he's like "next week I promise" Impulsive isn't Dawson's strong suit  __________________

Abbie sucks! LOVE when Joey poured the water on her. And then Pacey exposing her to the school.
Jen/Dawson are cute friends, but thats all for me. The lake scene was great, I agree, but I was glad Jen wanted to stay friends. I dont like Jack this season at all. He was awkward and weird at first and then a bit jerky for my taste. Him yelling at Joey was uncalled for. Poor Andie!  but I agree with Jack that going back on her meds is the best decision.__________________

Andie's storyline was the best part of the episode, imo. The rest was kind of blah and didn't tell us anything new about the characters. Didn't like Jen/Dawson interaction in this one. Why is Dawson always criticized for being someone who walks along the straight and narrow but not Andie? Andie is super focused and into school but no one says that she shouldn't be. And how is stealing part of being a teenager? Stealing is wrong and it doesn't give someone life experience. Dawson can be idealistic and navie but he has a clear view of right vs. wrong and there's nothing wrong with that. I actually laughed when he told Jen to go cut school and went to class instead. Reminded me of how he turned in his homework before skipping school in Road Trip.
I did like the last DJen scene though. Dawson needed someone and I'm glad he was able to lean on Jen in his time of need. Jack is pretty hard to read this episode. I did like the Jack/Joey scene on the dock where she encouraged him to let her be there for him as a friend. Funny how again she had to mention Dawson though. Andie was great in this episode and Meredith did so well with her breakdown scenes. It was so sad to see her ripped apart in front of the whole school. Why didn't the teacher stop Abby sooner than he did? She was being cruel way before he spoke up.  I'm glad Pacey chased after her and tried to cheer her up. I like how they built up the scenes leading to the reveal of her mental illness. It showed it well. I like that Andie is so driven while still suffering from illness. I like that the writers didn't write her character in a stereotypical way.__________________

This really was Andie's episode in that it was her storyline that sticks with you more than any of the others.
I was surprised that Joey joined in the campaign. I really liked how Meredith played her scenes and I loved Pacey supporting her through it all. He was her Knight in Shining armour for sure. I honestly don't remember Jack's storyline in this episode at all and I also didn't care for Jen trying to get Dawson to do things he wasn't comfortable doing. Kudos to Dawson for not giving in to the peer pressure. __________________

Her storyline was so serious and heavy that the others just paled in comparison.
Jack basically was pushing Joey away after his family situation was revealed. He ended up letting her hold his hand in the end. That was basically it. __________________
