[2x03] "Alternative Lifestyles" October 19th - November 2nd

The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread

"Alternative Lifestyles" ~ 2x03

Synopsis: An economics class project pairs Dawson and Jen as husband and wife, Pacey and Andie as a married couple and Joey as a single mother with two children. Jen tries to use the project to get closer to Dawson, flaunting and flirting in increasingly obvious ways. Pacey gets to know more about Andie's troubled family life and Joey begins to see that she has a chance of success in the real world while doing her project solo.

We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time
viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to
discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new
things we never noticed before. We will watch one episodes every two week. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact
time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode.
We will update this thread every second Friday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion
can take place in here too. Have Fun!

Eeeek, I know all I seem to talk about during this S2 rewatch is Pandie, but I love them! They're so cute in this episode, especially at the end when Pacey shows up with their entire project done. Already, Andie had inspired him to do better.

Oh don't worry about it, the second season is the season of Pacey & Andie
I love them in this episode, you can see they get under each other's skin. They aren't just classmates, that's for sure

I felt really bad for Jen in this episode, the way she was trying to get Dawson back was just... sad. It broke my heart a bit to see her act like that

I also felt bad for Bessie this episode. Joey completely skipped her in asking about her being an independent business woman. I'm not saying that she's immensely successful, but it was a bit rude. It was a bit like she didn't recognize what Bessie was doing. I'm glad they made up though, I prefer my favourite sisters united

I love the talk that Joey and Bessie have at the end, about how proud Joey is of Bessie. Bessie truly is a sister and mother-figure that anyone would be lucky to have.

I feel so bad for Jen though as well. Especially when she has that confrontation with Dawson in his room, and after Jen acts intimidating, she goes out in the hall and we see that she truly is hurt, and she knows what she's doing is wrong, she just doesn't know how to make it better. She keeps trying. That's what she does throughout the series is tries, and although sometimes what she does is the wrong way to go, she keeps trying in order to get it right. I love her complexity.

I completely agree. It's sad that Joey lost her mother at such a young age, but she is very lucky to have Bessie. She took her under her wing and became a great caretaker

Exactly - that's why I love Jen so much. She has so many layers. She's not just some bimbo, she has depth. She makes mistakes, but she takes responsibility for them and she tries to learn from them. It may have taken her some time, but she grew into such an amazing strong woman.

That's totally true. Even though this season is really Jen's downfall, I still love watching it because it shows the mess that she was able to clean up afterwards. She went through so much during Season 2, and yet she was able to come to terms with the mistakes she's made and tried to fix what she's broken. She wants to be a good person and she takes responsibility, and I think she's a great character to look up to because of that.

This is the episode where Pacey is starting to realize he may be developing feelings for Andie.

Season two is my favourite.

I have re-watched DC so many times, but I think S2 is my least watched season. Time to watch that season again.

I think my favourite part about S2 is Pandie and also Jack. There were a lot of storylines I didn't care for, like Jen/Abby friendship + Gail/Mitch relationship + Dawson/Joey.
