That line cracks me up.__________________ Beth|icon YT|LJ|ff.net Join/Vote Mark Salling

| Master Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I just watched it the other night and that beginning scene was pretty adorable. I love how they refer to the kid as a "love child." ![]() Speaking of Jack/Jen and children, in this case Amy, I figured I'd post the fic I was telling everyone about the other day. It was for the gift exchange so I tried to keep it hush hush until we could post that stuff. But here it is, so you guys don't have to go over to another thread and read it. Amy’s Christmas Tree The tree was lush, but small. The star atop it barely peeked over the top of Jen’s head. Still, the way Amy was transfixed by it, almost as if she were looking at a grander version of a tree, similar to the one at Rockefeller Center, made it more than perfect. Her tiny face pointed upwards, she could see herself reflected in a shining, red ornament. Her awe manifested itself in a laugh, exposing rows of tiny teeth. Jen, hanging a delicate glass snowflake on a flimsy branch, could not help but have a similar reaction to her daughter’s discovery. She had felt something similar the first time she saw Amy’s face; her big, questioning eyes peering back in a squint, her mouth slightly open, as if to coo or laugh. A happy baby, completely unaffected by the exhausting task of being born. Jen was always glad to have her daughter, but this year, on this day, especially. Everyone in her life had decided to escape the dreaded forecast of a slushy, cold New York Christmas. Grams had opted to go to a warmer locale, a week long getaway in the sun with the newest man in her life. Jen tried not to begrudge her the happiness, especially in light of her health status being noted as full remission for over 3 years. Grams deserved a little celebration of her own. Drue, who she had grown close to again when he returned to New York after graduating college, was also MIA during the season. All he would say, with a suspicious undertone, was that he had made prior engagements. When he had announced this to her, she simply smiled and translated Drue’s meaning using an age old understanding that existed between the two of them - there was a beautiful woman in his life. As for the rest of her friends, who were scattered throughout the country, she knew better than to hope for them to have the time, or inclination, to spend Christmas anywhere but a place they called home. Under normal circumstances, all the absence would have made Jen feel lonely. In Amy‘s presence, however, she found contentment. There was something special about just the two of them spending Amy’s first Christmas together. Private moments could be shared, moments that only Jen would ever remember. Memories that would be hers to keep, never having to share the experience of them with another soul. As she sat down on the sofa, taking in the somewhat dismal masterpiece that sat before her, she noticed Amy slink down to the floor, nestling herself quietly between her mother’s feet. The twinkle of blue and white lights still reflected in her irises. Jen imagined that every ornament possessed one a dream for Amy, dreams that only she could comprehend, and, at night, the tree could come to life, making those dreams come true while children slept. The thought made Jen feel a bit intrusive, even guilty, for trying to understand a magic that did not belong to her. She could only find justification in her relief. Relief that Amy was not lonely, that she did not understand that there was any reason to be. She did not notice the lack of people, or presents under the tree, and the fact that Santa would have little more to leave did not seem to phase her. She was content upon simply leaning against her mother’s leg, her tiny fingers absently plucking at the carpet fibers. All Amy needed was this little tree and her mother’s love. A loud knock came on the door, tearing Jen’s attention away from her daughter. She was not expecting company. She glanced up the clock, realizing how late it was, and was momentarily locked in her place by a feeling of unease as the knock came again. Carefully, quietly, she picked Amy up and placed her in the doorway to their shared bedroom, out of sight of anyone who may enter. She rose to her toes as she approached the door, trying to get a clear glimpse of the other side through the peephole. When she could see, she felt almost silly for being so afraid. She swung the door open, almost launching herself and a most welcome guest. “I can’t believe you’re hear,” she shouted with excitement, not carrying if she disturbed anyone in the adjoining apartments. Setting her down, Jack flashed her a perfect smile. “I couldn’t leave my two best girls alone on Christmas, now could I?” he said, recollecting all the packages he had dropped. “But what about Doug? And Andie? What about your dad?” she asked. “Dad and Andie are together in Boston, and Doug is with his family in Capeside. Pacey, by the way, sends his love.” He could still see the question in her face, the why of the matter. “You need me here, Jen. I could hear that in your voice when I talked to you last.” A sweet, shy face peeked into the hallway, her eyes focusing on Jack. She had never seen him before, and that frightened her a bit, as all new people did. But when she saw her mother reach out to him, pulling him close to her, uninhibited in her display of emotion, Amy toddled out as quickly as he unsteady legs could manage and wrapped each of arms around his leg. Jack scooped Amy and kissed her on the top of her head, then did the same to Jen. “How could I have missed all of this?” he questioned as he broke away and plopped down on the couch, Amy in his lap. Jen curled up next to him, all of three of their faces now focused on the tiny tree. She could see it now, as if she never had before. This was her Christmas miracle. __________________ Beth|icon YT|LJ|ff.net Join/Vote Mark Salling | |||

And, not to toot my own horn or anything, but that was a particularily pretty icon, wasn't it? It was easy though, considering the subject.__________________ Beth|icon YT|LJ|ff.net Join/Vote Mark Salling
