Pacey UNappreciation: We're not attending his pity party

Well I won't at least

I don't dislike Pacey, but he does annoy me sometimes.

Wingster 09-11-2011 05:18 PM

any reasons or examples?

For me (one of): Anti-Prom..taking Andie to the dance and ignoring her most of the time while he he just creepily stared at Joey

He wouldn't forgive Andy for cheating but he kissed his ex while still with Andie....Dated Joey's bff in college...Asked Joey to rate her sexual experience the first they slept together....Blamed Dawson for all his problems with Joey... Slept with a married woman before getting back with Joey...dumped Joey at the prom.....wasn't the best boyfriend.

He did get on my nerves in parts of season 4 when he kept on about Dawson all the time. It seemed like every episode almost he was suffering from insecurity, and okay I know it wasn't really his fault, but around the time of the episode where Joey asks Dawson to fill in the whole "person who knows you best" thing it starts to get irritating to me cause I just knew there would be drama when Pacey found out about it.

I think the writers really overdid it because it seemed like Joey was telling him all season that Dawson is my past, you are my future, and then she would have to tell him the same thing 2-3 episodes later :look: Even after they slept together and it was really special, next morning he's all err are you gonna tell Dawson that we had sex if he asks. I mean geez

I'm certainly not a Pacey fan by any means. I liked him up until S4 and then that was about it for me. I had issues with him in S3 but being a Dawson fan, I can't really be objective about that

I thought Pacey became hugely unlikable in S4. I understand he had insecurites and frustrations but every episode, it seemed to always be about whether Pacey was good enough for Joey, good enough for college or it was the Dawson issue. Where was the fun, sweet guy of previous seasons? I certainly didn't see it.

Well put! Did the writers have nothing better to do than repeat themselves? 'Cause Pacey sure didn't :irked:

THIS right here is where I see that Andie was a better fit for him. He didn't have any of these issues with her. So why write the PJ S4 love story worse than PA S2?

I have to say this title summarizes perfectly my feelings regarding Pacey.

Don't get me wrong, because I loved his character in S1 and mostly S2, because his relationship with Andie made him strong and confident.

After that, eh... his constantly whining and pity parties really bothered me.
I won't blame him for breaking up with Andie (ignoring the bad bad writing in that one), but I will blame him for being hypocritical giving the fact he once cheated too.

The fact that blamed Dawson for every single problem in his relationship with Joey also got on my nerves.

Wingster 10-01-2011 11:17 PM

yea I don't like it when he complained but did nothing to change his path.

I'm still puzzled why they made him more weak and insecure with Joey when she was the love of his life.

This. You'd think he'd be over the moon and generally happy :).

I'm aware Pacey has always had self esteem issues but did they really have to come out to such a degree during S4?

Dawson was the scapegoat for every single PJo issue it seemed to me :(

DawsonCreek1998 10-27-2011 10:07 PM

Honestly i never saw the connection nor the attraction for joey to all of sudden like pacey. she was never attracted to him before. I think she was always in love with dawson. She ran from her problems and had a harder time accepting new things. Pacey was better for Andie honestly. Who knows how the series would have really turned out to be if Kevin Williamson had never left the show. I think the show needed to stay with the characters relationships for a little longer into season 3 because the beginning of season 3 to me was just boring.

Forwood4Bamon 12-21-2011 07:54 AM

Pacey's grades slipping. He's going to stop believing in himself now. This pacey is not the same lovable old Pacey that I know. He's a different person. :(

angelface211 12-21-2011 09:18 AM

^I know what you mean. Pacey has always had issues with self esteem but they come out so strongly and quickly in season 4 that he seems like a completely different person. I hated him during that season mostly which sucks because I loved him in season 2 with Andie :) Joey definitely brought out the worst in him, not that it was her fault. I blame it all on Pacey and Pacey blames it all on Dawson

Pure.Magic 12-21-2011 09:43 AM

How was I not aware of the existence of this thread?

I adored Pacey till S2, but the whole PJo arc and the whining and the ~charity project~ behaviour got on my nerves. But the biggest reason I guess was his break up with Andie (even though it was sort of justified), I always remained bitter about that. :pout:
