At this point the writers still had the "must get fans off the PJ train" mentality, they tried all of season five to accomplish that with several different tactics, making Pacey a manwhore, not contacting Joey when he got to Boston, hooking Pacey up with Audrey, having Joey wanting to get back with Dawson, Joey being fine with the P/Au hook up, but it didn't work. I would bet the PJ support was as strong at the end of season 5 as it was at the end of season three. They probably lost some fans all together, but no one (or very few) went from being a PJ fan to supporting Pacey or Joey with anyone else. __________________
