That's what bugs me about them when they say it's "God's Will" that they are having these many kids. It's not Gods will when your ovulating yourself and having your daughters chart you menstrual cycle and your temperature and getting pregnant only few months apart. Yes it is pretty amazing that she has lasted this long and her body is allowing her to have these many kids without any problems, but I find something fishy with this family.

They don't even realise that they're actually using a form of birth control, they decide when to get pregnant that way, they don't actually "let the nature works". 18 is way too much in my opinion, how are you supposed to take care of all those kids? To actually spend time with them individually?

I read that the older kids take care of the younger ones. Each older child has at least one or two kids that they are responsible for. Which I would hate cause I need my life. I shouldn't be at home with my parents 24/7 helping with their kids. I also read they have no friends, that their each others friends and just stay home in their big mansion. I would go crazy

It's something with their religion, I forget what they are, but they are supposed to have as many kids as God wills them to. I hope they don't expect their new daughter in law to have 18 kids

I think that a lot of people take issue with the Duggar family based on the way that they socialize and educate their children, not necessarily that they have so many of them. They are home schooled and, for the most part, the only friends they seem to have are their sibilngs, the occasional cousin, and children from other large families with similar values. They appear isolated, thus making what they believe seem more like brainwashing than free thought.

Whether or not they are better or worse off than any other children, I won't hazard a guess at it.

I know that the oldest daughters all play a large part in taking care of the smaller children. Even though neither of the parents has a 9-5 job, they probably do not have a lot of individual time with the kids. But, in all fairness, a lot of parents do not have that kind of time to spend with their children no matter how many or few they have.

I know they are some form of Christian sect. I want to say Quiverfull, because they do not believe in modern forms of birth control. But I'm not sure. I think, though, Jim Bob and Michelle say the decision to not use birth control is because they did when they were first married but she had a miscarriage so they stopped. Actually Anna (the daughter-in-law) has the same views on having children as they do. She has said if the Lord blesses her with children, then so be it. From what I understand, she was raised in a way that was similiar to that of the Duggars, though her family is much smaller.

True But that's not good for the kids. The girls I'm tutoring are 10 and 12 and they obviously need some alone time that they don't get from their parents cause they're both executives (an exec in Paris never leave the office before 8/9pm), so they're always fighting for my attention

Definitely not good. You always hear parents saying, "I work to make a better life for my kids," which I believe to some degree. People can say all they want about not being able to buy happiness, but it sure is nice to have a roof over your had, and food in your stomach, and clothes on your back when you're a kid. It is also nice to be able to go to college and not owe the government and/or the bank thousands of dollars. So if parents strive for that, I applaud them. Still, I think they sometimes forget that part of being happy as a child is knowing that you are loved and knowing that someone cares about how you feel and what you think. I also think that parents do not understand that kids cannot always comprehend the bigger picture. They just want someone around.

Me either, Jess. I mean, I lack the attentiveness to have a cat or a dog, so a kid is out of the question. A goldfish might do, though.

OMG! I am driving home from Target last night and, as I am coming up the street to my house, I see these ladies in jogging suits pushing strollers. They look to be in their 60s and I think, "It's a little cold to be out walking your grandkids this late in the day." But then I actually looked in the first lady's stroller, and there was a big, fat, fluffy cat sitting in it. I looked to the other one and it was the same story. These to women had cat strollers, pushing their pets around like they're babies. Maybe out of context it loses something, but I just started cracking up. Then I had that moment of, "Oh god. This is me in 30 years. I'm going to be pushy my fat cat around in a baby carriage! NOOO!"

Never, under any circumstances, am I to buy a cat, guys. NEVER!

I like kids but I like it even better when I send them back to their parents I'm too much of an anxious person to have kids anyway.

OMG. See, I'll never be that...I'm allergic to cats

Right on, sister.

I'm allergic to cats too. But I guess there's like a pill they can use to treat cat allergies. Something to do with circumventing the reaction people have to cat saliva (because I guess that's what most people are allergic to) There are also some breeds of cats, just as there are some breed of dogs, that are considered "hypoallergenic." And not just those gross, hairless cats either.

Medication for animal allergies doesn't work really well actually (I had treatments for years cause everyone in my famiily has cats ). It calms the symptoms but doesn't stop them

We have 3 cats. My mom always has to rescue cats, lmao. They are all indoor cats though... I kind of hate when people allow their cats to go outside. Because they come to my house and end up having their litter here and we have to find homes for them. And we get the mother spayed and she runs off, never to be seen again.

I'm not allergic to cats, I'm just....ummm....afraid of them If a cat is in the room I'm scared to go in, espically if I'm alone, I will walk back out.

I was working the drive throw of the bank today and a women pulls up in her car and she had her baby sitting in her lap while she was driving and her daughter that looked about 2/3 was standing up in the back. I saw no car seat anywhere in that car. I wanted to yell at the women. The baby in her lap looked about a year old maybe a bit younger.

OMG I hate when people do that. Do they realise that if they have an accident the kids are going straight through the windshield
