Jen was always Drue's first choice. He knew her and understood what she went through with her parents and her life in NY. Drue sort of had a similar situation with his parents so he could really relate to Jen's issues.

I never gave Henry's character a great deal of thought but he does resemble a 15-year old Dawson in some ways, especially regarding Jen. I think he put her on a pedestal from the second that he saw her. And, like Dawson, I don't think he could handle the reality of her. I don't think most people could. And I think that Jen and Henry would have fizzled, mostly because the had a hard time keeping it together. Although, if his character had carried over into S4, it would have been interesting to see how he and Drue interacted, especially around Jen. That would have been some great tension. I mean, I have my vote for who I would have wanted to win her over in the end.

Jen isn't lucky with her love interests, they always end up disappearing

That's the truth. At least with some of them, we knew where they went and there was some closure at least. I don't remember it well but that Billy guy from S1 went back to NY or whatever, right? I don't remember what happened to Ty and we all know Chris pretty much used her in S2. Henry went away to boarding school. But Drue just....poof...into thin air. I wonder if he went were all the "other socks" go when you can't find them in the dryer. Was Drue kidnapped by the sock monster? Seriously, though, I heard there was something about him going to Arizona that was discussed in the infamous summer blogs that were on the WB website. That there was an email between Drue and Jen on the site that happened between S4 and S5. I could have been misinformed though. Honestly, if they were never going to bring him back, they should have given us some closure between them, really. It would not have made me much happier but at least there wouldn't be a million questions like, "Where's Drue and what happened to him?"

I dont think I agree with this. (Especially the Dawson part. Initially yes, but later, Jen was the one to flip out.) Getting back to the point, Henry was more understanding than Jen expected and when she told him about her past and he didnt even blink an eye, I was reminded of how Dawson came around to finally see Jen, and love all of her, accept her sordid past, cuz thats what made her who she was. Henry's understanding, and acceptance and infatuation with Jen, of course was what made me feel like he was like S1 Dawson. Moreover, his romantic gestures, and things he would do for Jen were again very Dawson.

This I agree with, Henry/Jen werent meant to work, I never felt it between them. Something was just not right, like S1 DJen.

Ive never heard of that. So thats supposed to shut us up, and not ask any questions, to demand an explanation as to why Drue/Jen were ended so abruptly?

I remember reading something to that effect back on the earlier posts of the first Drue/Mark thread. I don't remember what was said exactly but I got the impression that something about Drue and his reasons were leaving were explained in those journals.

I am with you, though. I don't think a post on an imaginary blog was proper explanation of Drue's departure from Capeside coupled with his failure to re-emerge in Boston, as suggested he would in S4.

I wonder if part of Jen settled on Boston, in part, because of Drue or at least what he told her on the boat dock?

I think Drue was the one who actually made her start thinking of Boston as an option. And though it was easier on her cuz it wasnt NY, settling in a new city was going to be daunting, and I think that she was glad that someone she knew was going to be there too.

I think it was a much needed perspective that he gave because she dreaded going back to NY but that was the direction in which Jen was being pushed - by Jack (only because he thought it was what she wanted but still), by her past there. I think she needed one person to say to her, "You don't have to go to NY. It's okay that you don't." Drue did that for her. And she felt comfortable telling him that she didn't want to go back. She couldn't seem to tell anyone else. People could chalk it up to her being a little drunk but she appeared collected enough to articulate those feelings to him.

Something about Drue made her a little less apprehensive to voice her fear, and ultimately he made her a little less afraid to move forward. I like to think that the idea of him possibly being in Boston (BOOOOOOOO WRITERS!! ) was comforting to her. Just enough of the good from her past (which Drue turned out to be in the end) to make her confident in her future.

ETA: Cus I finally finished it....

Yep, she was drunk but I think she wanted to talk to Drue, and I was glad she opened up to him about what was troubling her, she couldnt even talk to Jack about it. Drue understood her, and also made it a tad easier for her to decide.

And I agree, that the thought of having Drue there in Boston was a comfort to her. Even though she'd jump out of the boat before she'd admit that.

Arghhhh!!! Vid!!!!! ILU. *goes to watch the vid*

I think some of what Drue had been saying all season about how he was not there to judge, nor would he ever do it under any circumstance, resonated with Jen after all that time and that is part of the reason she opened up to him. She knew he wouldn't think she was crazy or stupid for being so afraid of her past and going back to NY, even though he gave her a bit of hard time about it all season long.

I'll admit it was a little on the sad side. But I was in that kind of mood. Especially when it comes to Drue/Jen. They should have been something completely different from what they were.
