[1x07] "Detention" ~ June 12th - June 17th
The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread "Detention" ~ 1x07 Synopsis: Dawson, Pacey, Joey and Jen all wind up spending a Saturday in detention at Capeside High under the supervision of Mrs. Tringle, the school librarian. The day takes on a "Breakfast Club" type air as Abby Morgan, the school trouble-maker, stirs the pot by initiating a telling game of truth or dare to break up the monotony of the day. Joey's secret longing for Dawson threatens to reveal itself. I would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new things we never noticed before. We will watch two episodes every week, one Monday-Thursday and the other Friday-Sunday. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode. I will update this thread every Thursday and then again on Sunday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion can take place in here too. Have Fun! __________________

I really enjoy this episode. I love the part when they are talking about Emilio Estevez and Pacey says something to the effect " Emilio Estevez he was the one in those Duck movies, they were so funny."

I love this episode too!!! Pacey and Jen have a hot kiss and Joey is finally real about the way she feels!
I don't like Abby but I guess she served a purpose in this episode! I also like angry Joey hitting that guy with her tray! __________________

This was a funny episode because it really does show how different they were here and how much they changed later.

i remember this episode a lot, its one of my favs.
dawson/joey were so cute in the episode. i loved thew wrestling at the beginning. and the kiss i think pacey/jen are super cute together. i see more chemistry there than with jen/dawson. i couldnt really blame dawson for throwing the ball at pacey, he was being a jerk. i liked abby, she was a brat but it was fun to watch her toy with them. __________________

I loved this episode and I loved Pacey in it. I don't blame Dawson for throwing the ball at Pacey and he didn't intentionally mean to break his nose. Pacey was being pretty cocky even if it was because he was showing off for the girls.
I too liked Jen and Pacey's kiss, but then again every Pacey kiss is pretty drool worthy. __________________

Agreed on understanding why Dawson threw the ball at Pacey. First he was laughing at him with Jen in the hallway then mocked him in front of a bunch of girls just to make himself look good. It was kind of weird to see them at odds in this episode though following Dawson's support of Pacey in Baby. It was a weird way followup that episode, imo. I was kind of annoyed with Pacey in this episode until the end when he talked to Dawson about how he was really feeling.
Pacey/Jen do have good chemistry and have more than Dawson/Jen in this season of the show. DJo wrestling at the beginning of the episode was cute and it explains Joey's breakdown at the end. I think she was just as confused as he was about their changing relationship at this point. She's just more aware of her changing feelings than he is. But he's also dating Jen so that probably has something to do with it. The kiss was great and everyone could see what was going on with them even if Dawson didn't. Some of the reasons they were in detention were contrite like Jen. It felt a bit out of place but served its purpose for the premise of this episode. __________________

Lots of good points.
The other thing I liked was when Pacey mentioned "those Ducks movies", it was funny and cute. __________________

^ It's sad to think that line wouldn't make sense to young viewers now.

You're right, but I think "the Ducks movies" are still on a lot on TV.

There was a Mighty Duck Marathon on TV over the Holidays or shortly after and the first Mighty Ducks is on Netflix right now.
