And that's when it showed that the writers really had nothing else to write.

Audrey being a drunk was probably one of my least favorite moments on this show. The only good that came out of it IMO was Clean and Sober, as it is one of my favorite episodes of the series.

If I had my way I would definitely rewrite the finale. Yes I am a D/Jo fan and would love to have had it end with them together. Also to have my all time favourite couple of DC Pacey and Andie get back together. I know we can't always have it the way we want so if I was able to make at least one small change to how it ended, it would be this: Dawson be happy with someone ( if it could not be Joey) in his life. I know they eluded to the fact that he may get to fulfill his dream of meeting Steven Spielberg but I would like to have seen him also be happy with someone new in his life.

I would rewrite S3. I think they chose the easiest way to build up Pacey and Joey: making the significant others look terribly bad. Andie, the cheater? Sorry, can't buy that... not after what Pacey and her had in S2. They could end up the relationship, if they wanted to put Joey and Pacey together, but not in those terms.
I've got to agree here  I hated that they made Andie cheat. For me, it felt incredibly out of character for her and some may say that that was the point but I just didn't believe she would ever go that far.

The villianisation of Dawson was also a major no no for me. While Dawson has always had many flaws, I felt that the writers over exaggerated some of these and painted him as the big bad in a way. I hated that so much. I knew Dawson wouldn't ideally be happy with the idea of Pacey/Joey but his actions after he found out were so far removed from the Dawson I knew :(

I don't think Dawson was vilified because he had always shown that side of himself from the beginning. As for Andie, I can see how people think she was written out of character. The Andie of S2 was not a cheater. But her mental illness and circumstances made it within the realm of reality imo. I do think it was cheap though. The writers took the easy way out.

Agreed! I absolutely love the entirety of C&S. I obv loved the party SL but the Audrey/Dawson SL was also perfection. It was adorable and touching and it made me wish there was more Dawson/Audrey interaction in the last two seasons because they brought out the good in each other. And they were funny! I'd rewrite some things to make it so that there'd be more of that friendship.

Andie cheating caused me to quit DC way back then :P hated it!!!!

Totally agree Ali. I never really thought about Audrey/Dawson friendship until that 1 episode. What a terrible mistake of the writers not to develop that!

I understand where you are coming from but for me, I felt that he was definitely out of character during S3 :)

I think he was more OTT than OOC. it felt like an exaggerated and magnified version of how he would normally react. Kind of like something he would think about and say, but never really do.
I fell in love with PJo for them, not because Dawson was made into a bad guy. Although I agree that there was no reason for that whole boat race and ultimatum fiasco that went on. PJo didn't need Dawson to look bad in order for people to like them. It was silly.

I would have definitely written a lot more for the Dawson/Audrey friendship dynamic

When will writers get that through their heads? :hammer_head:

 i am notttt a fan of storytelling like that!

Totally agree about the Audrey/Dawson interactions. I think it was refreshing to see that pairing and I totally wish there had been more of it!

Clean and Sober is one of my favorite episodes tooooo!

It's a great episode because IMO, it hit all the aspects of the show that I adore.

 It was really funny. And it was much needed because pretty much all of the S6 eps prior to that were borderline unwatchable. I would completely rewrite the first half of S6. It's my least favorite part of the entire show.

True story. However merry mayhem was pretty good.
