S6 wasn't that much better. We got Pacey/Sadie and didn't he almost have sex with a hooker too? David Boreanaz's wife was in the episode... sorry the details are a bit fuzzy.
I think I'd basically scrap most of the stories that made Pacey out to be a womanizer, casual sex kinda guy. I mean, I get why women would want to sleep with the man, but he struck me as a guy who always was much happier being in a committed relationship with someone he loved rather than just 'playing the field' or whatever. So yeah.... I'd re-write some of that stuff... perhaps I would have preferred they'd kept him single for a bit longer before moving him into a relationship mid-late S5 (and I didn't mind him and Audrey together, mostly because it never felt like it was meant to last forever, even though I believe they did care for/love each other). |
Agreed, Seersha.
It is weird but I actually kind of liked Karen. :look: But I would absolutely do away with Melanie Shea Thompson altogether! I loathed her. |
I think Pacey and Audrey cared about each other as friends. But the whole time they were romantic or tried to be romantic, it just never worked and the chemistry just wasn't there.
|
So you'd rewrite it so they were just friends? I think that would've been fun because they were very similar in a lot of ways (at least they were before Audrey started spiraling), ways that made them incompatible as a couple imo.
|
Yeah, just friends. I just didn't think it was smart that they paired Pacey up with Joey's roommate. *shrug*
|
I dont think it was smart on the audrey pacey pairing either. Seriously, pacey rubbed that relationship in joey's face, the same pacey who said they were worlds apart and he was capeside and she wasnt yet he ended up in boston close to her and dates her roommate....man if that was me, i would of slapped pacey upside the head and given him the silent treatment for months because for the love of her life datin someone else right in her face like that is just cruel

I liked Pacey/Audrey, but I agree with u guys about them having a good friendship would have probably been even better.
I don't like Pacey the "womanizer" either. I mean... Come onnnnnn. He is a hopeless romantic, but I like to see it as him having something empty inside of him ever since he and Joey broke up. Many times, u can see it on his face actually. |
now that I look back, I do see that Pacey was suffering..most of time he was great at hiding it

I felt like even when he was with all those girls, it was never really much of anything... But it sucks he resorted to being "that" guy.

I would rewrite S3. I think they chose the easiest way to build up Pacey and Joey: making the significant others look terribly bad. Andie, the cheater? Sorry, can't buy that... not after what Pacey and her had in S2. They could end up the relationship, if they wanted to put Joey and Pacey together, but not in those terms.
The choices made in S3 affected S4 deeply, especially when it comes to Pacey, in my opinion, because they had to balance things out and his character ended up suffering the most. Oh, S6 also needed some rewriting. Audrey a drunk? Pacey losing Dawson's money and bringing back the same old fight? Jen dying so Joey could make a choice? |
ew, i would hate to think of jen dying in order for joey to make a choice! i always thought the reason she died was their way of bringing it full circle with her leaving and the show ending. gah.. if she died just so that joey could make a choice, that's awful! i wouldnt want that either!
|
It is a way to think about it, but to make Joey's choice definitive, they used Jen's death. She had a whole life ahead of her, a child... I hated that particular choice, but well... not a fan of the finale as a whole.
|
I'm sure the writers would've had Joey make her choice whether they killed Jen off or not. I think they did it because it was the finale and having Jen die was dramatic and memorable and it required the cast to put on extra great performances.
|
yeah, that's pretty much how i saw it as well. i personally dont like the idea of joey making a decision based on jen's death because it's not what brought her back to capeside. What did was gail's wedding and i think she would have made a decision no matter what. thats how i see it at least.
