Episode Discussion # 413 - "Hopeless"
Mrs. Valentine agrees to allow Joey a couple days off work for the senior trip... on an unusual condition. She and Pacey are forced to spend the evening with Drue and Anna Evans, a wealthy teen from another school... and make sure that Drue is on his best behavior. This is, naturally, easier said than done, and Joey's more than a little concerned when Anna seems more interested in Pacey than in Drue... Meanwhile, Dawson's humiliated when an evening out with Gretchen and her friends only serves to accentuate the gap between their ages, and Tobey extends an invitation to Jack. __________________
Pacey to Joey- The simple act of being in love with you is enough for me.
Angel- I love you. I try not to, but I can't stop. Buffy- Me, me, too. I can't either. |

Oh I just adored the Mr. Brooks/Dawson scenes. Such sadness and the scene when Dawson is helping Mr Brooks sit down and Mr. Brooks hug him always makes me teary. I always love the Mr. Brooks/Grams scene. As for the rest it was ok.

I enjoyed Pacey and Joey's double date with Drue and Anna. I also enjoyed Jacker's storyline and Dawson and Mr. Brooks.

Agree Coolcat. Dawson/Mr. Brooks scene was touching and sad. Finally we realized that he really cared for Dawson...

I really didn't like the whole Gretchen and the girls out on the town and their conversation - annoyed me for some reason. I just could never really warm to Gretchen.
Really loved the Mr Brooks and Dawson moment. __________________

This episode did nothing for me.
The whole double date with Dru and Anna didn't phase me. And all the sex insecurity got old, fast. Dawson being stamped was amusing ... other then that, the plot was weak. I never really got into the Mr. Brooks stuff, to be honest. It bored me to tears, back then. But, I might re-watch S4 and see if it strikes a cord, now. __________________

I found Gretchen's friends really annoying, constantly talking about her exes all night was definitely not attractive and calling all her exes hot and sexy and Dawson the "nice" guy was definitely insulting. I didn't really blame him for being totally uncomfortable. AT least she came to him in the end.
Pacey was really sweet the entire episode, I loved how nice he was to the girl on the date. Drew was such a freaking a hole. I enjoyed Jack's storyline in this one, sorta, but I still really dont like Toby. He just comes off so judgmental and pretentious. I agree about Mr. Brooks. He was pretty boring. But it was still sad to see Dawson find him at the end there. |
