[3x23] "True Love" August 1st - August 8th
The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread "True Love" ~ 3x23 Synopsis: Gail and Mitch prepare for their hasty wedding, while elsewhere in Capeside, Pacey finalizes plans to leave straight after the ceremony. As the day goes on, it becomes blindingly obvious that Joey must make a choice, and when a conversation takes place between her and Dawson, during which he accepts he must cease being selfish and allow Joey her freedom to make her own choices, she leaves to find Pacey, hoping to tell him how she really feels before he leaves Capeside. Meanwhile, Jen regrets ending things with Henry the way she did, and ends up chasing his camp bus to tell him how she feels. In another carpe diem moment, Jack pursues Ethan, the boy he took to the prom, although he is unhappy with the outcome. However, his heartache leads to a new connection with his father, and the two embrace for the first time in years. When Dawson returns to his house after crying for Joey at the side of the creek, he finds Jen, Jack and Andie sitting on his bed, waiting to support him after his rejection by Joey. Joey, meanwhile, manages to catch Pacey before he leaves, and instead of stopping him, confesses that she is in love with him, and leaves on the boat with him.  We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new things we never noticed before. We will watch one episode every two weeks. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode. This episode caused so many emotions. I would have loved to have seen it when it first aired and read any fan comments out there with all the different points of view and how many were routing for P/Jo and how many were routing for D/Jo.

I still can't say how I feel about this episode even years on. There were some nice bits like Gail & Mitch reuniting but not being a fan of PJo, I can't say I enjoyed their scenes. I don't blame either one of them at this stage now and it was obvious they'd end up together but I had far more sympathy for Dawson. I was relieved he told Joey to go because he knew, despite everything, Joey wanted Pacey and in the end Dawson would never stop her from being happy. I liked that.

My absolute FAVOURITE part of this episode is when Jen comes out of the car and sees Joey running off crying. She looks the other way for Dawson, knowing something bad must have happened. The first thing she does is round up the gang and surprises Dawson in his bedroom. I LOVE that. I love Jen. The way she's there for her friends when they need someone. And I love how her, Andie and Jack all refused to leave Dawson alone.

 You hit it. That was my favorite part of the episode too and you perfectly explained why I loved Jen so much. Jen took a miserable situation for Dawson and immediately helped him out the best way she knew how. This was, hands down, my favorite (and quite frankly, only pleasing moment) moment of the episode for me. I was so sad watching this episode take place. I knew the show would never be the same and that season 1/2 magic would never be recaptured. Some will say new magic took place but when I think of true Dawson's Creek, it was those first two seasons, especially with Pacey/Andie. This episode made me sad knowing it would never be the same. But once again, Jen was her awesome self in this one and the one bright light in this episode for me. |

It's hard for those of us who have not gone through what she did at such an early age to relate to the conflict she must have been feeling. Even though the romantic feelings for Dawson were gone at that point, she still had that deep friendship connection that meant a lot to her. And although she was friends with Pacey too, their friendship was not as strong. Having said that though, it is very hard to ignore such strong romantic feelings like the ones she had for Pacey. I did feel for her in that episode and it really shone through when you could tell she wanted to be with |Pacey but couldn't let go of her friendship with Dawson. I mean a lot of us go through similar conflict with our friends vs our boyfriends, it just so happens that her friend was a boy who was in love with her. She couldn't do anything about that though. I have a friend who has been my best friend since we were five and she tends to always put her boyfriends first before her friends and this is so typical of a lot of people, I don't know why that happens, but it does more often than not. It is how those friends react that can define the friendship going forward. Since she and I had been friends for so many years, |I chose to accept that about her and be there no matter what. It's not like I didn't have other friends or boyfriends of my own, so I understood it. It was a very emotional episode for me. __________________
