Episode Discussion #106 - "Detention"
Episode #106 - "Detention"
Dawson, Pacey, Joey and Jen all wind up spending an 8-hour Saturday in detention at Capeside High under the supervision of Mrs. Tingle, the school librarian. Abby Morgan, a fellow trouble-maker, stirs the pot by initiating a telling game of truth or dare to break up the monotony of the day. Afraid that Jen isn't physically attracted to him, Dawson's insecurity causes him to fight with Pacey. Matters are only complicated by the drawn-out truth or dare kiss between his best friend and his girlfriend. Later, Jen airs her frustration about not being accepted in the small town and frankly questions Joey about the friction between the two of them. While coolly composed most of the time, Joey panics when her intense feelings for Dawson threaten to boil over after she is dared to kiss him. __________________

I love this episode! Probably because of my obsession over the breakfast club This episode always makes me laugh 'guess the butt'! And the truth/dare scene is so great!

Great episode.
Of course "Guess my butt" was awesome. I loved the "bigger biceps" comment from Joey, and seeing her hit that guy in the cafeteria. But I reallllly didn't like Dawson hitting Pacey in the face with the basketball. __________________

I loved this episode
I really enjoyed the Truth or Dare game in this especially the Dawson/Joey kiss. However both Pacey and Dawson were obnoxious in this episode. Dawson really shouldnt have hit Pacey in the face with the basketball but Pacey shouldnt have goaded him into doing it. Neither character was likable in those moments. But it was nice to see they made up, I felt sorry for Pacey because his friendship with Dawson was the only thing he sort of had going for him. I was PMSL at Pacey's reason for detention, so, so funny. __________________

It was definitely one of my favorite episodes in S1, although not a big fan of Katie's crying face , but hey, who does look good when they cry? Anyways it was a great episode and I really love how all of the characters grow closer together, yet spread apart when Joey's feelings nearly erupt. Pacey really wanted Joey to finally tell Dawson (he knew that they were hot for eachother), while Jen was worried that Dawson would find out and see how beautiful Joey was and run off with her. It was a dramatic moment and Ms. Tringle's outburst letting them know they could leave, totally smushed Joey admitting her feelings, well at least for 2 more episodes..

This is one of my favourite episodes because it draws on The Breakfast Club.

This is definally a close second to The Pilot episode of my favorite DC episode ever. As you all said I absolutly love how it reflect The Breakfast Club, a classic movie. I also love how it's the four main characters together. Abby was great in this episode, she was bareable and I loved the tension she added to everything. I also thought that the Mighty Ducks quote was absolutly halarious. It's really quite funny when a character draws upon a movie that the actor was actually in.
The truth or dare scene was classic. And who hasen't, in their teenage years played truth or dare. It made the episode seem so nostalgic. The guys were definally being too male for my taste. But the girls handled their situation very realisitically. Joey with her bitting sarcasim and comments thrown towards Jen and Jen finally getting sick of it and confronting Joey. __________________

And you're right about Abby. Loved her snarkiness and perceptiveness this episode. __________________
