Episode Discussion 105 "Baby"

The miracle of life surprises everyone, as Bessie and Bodie's baby decides to make an early entrance. Finding her very pregnant sister on the side of the road, a panicked Joey transports her to Dawson's house to wait for an ambulance. A bad traffic accident and limited resources delay the ambulance, and it becomes very clear that Bessie is going to give birth on Dawson's living room floor. Desperate, Joey enlists Jen's grandmother, a registered nurse who disapproves of the interracial couple's decision to have a baby, much less one out of wedlock, to help with the birthing. Meanwhile, Pacey's affair with Miss Jacobs is leaked to the high school rumor mill, with news of the scandal traveling all the way to the school board. In an uncharacteristically mature move, Pacey gallantly saves Miss Jacobs' job and reputation, only to be given a heart-breaking blow.

I love this episode. My favorite part was Bessie and her comebacks to Grams bigotry, it was really touching how everyone reacted when the baby was being born, having just gained a neice a week ago myself it hits home now. I also loved how Joey had a flashback of her mother in pain when Bessie was giving birth. How sad to be reminded of your dead mother in her worst pain!

Pacey also showed what a heart he has by taking the fall for Ms. Jacobs. You could really tell in this episode that he cared a lot more about her than just sex and Im glad that they didnt drag the Pacey/Tamara story out too long I think, for a story thats not too realistic, they drew it out pretty realistically.

Baby---Probably one of my lesser fav. episodes of Season 1.(Please know I loved them ALL, but there are some that rank up there as my absolute favs)

Favorite Scene: Between Joey and Dawson when Joey is telling Dawson how much Bessie reminds her of her mother and how hard it is for Joey to see Bessie suffering because it reminds her so much of how much her mom suffered towards the end of her illness.
Its just yet another moment/scene in Season 1 where we realize how much "history" Joey and Dawson have and how much of a comfort Dawson was to Joey throughout her young, sometimes sad, life.

Favorite Line(s): Joey: No time to talk Dawson. My sister is having her baby.

Dawson: Cool.... Congratulations.

Joey: On your lawn.

---------------
Also Opening Scene) Joey: I'll see you tomorrow.

*Jen says this as she walks out of Dawson's room*

Jen: Don't stay up too late.

*Dawson's alone now....He lays back on his bed and looks at the TV*

Dawson: Movie night... way too complicated.

Baby another good episode.I felt bad for Pacey when the hole Tamara thing came out he was really sad about it. But I am glad he did what he did at the hearing and I liked when Tamara kind of told Doug off and told him to call her Ms. Jacob's. I enjoyed the Baby being born stuff and I like how Dawson told Joey Bessie needed her. Nice episode.

I really like this episode. I like the talk between Dawson and Joey about Joey's mom and later when Joey goes back into the house and holds Bessie's hand. I like the Pacey and Joey scene. I like the scene where Grams tells Jen that just because they don't say certain things doesn't mean they don't feel them. I also like the Pacey and Tamara goodbye scene. I like the ending of the episode where Joey is holding Alexander and Pacey is walking on the beach. I love the song at the end. A great episode all around.

I liked the talk between dawson and joey. It really was great how joey just let her feelings towards dawson, and it shows that at that time, they really did understand each othe rand that he was there for her.

I also liked how pacey took the fall for ms jacobs, it showed how responsible he was and that he care for others that cared about him, it really showed that he was very mature at his age.

I haven't re-watched it yet, but I really remember Joey getting so scared about Bessie. I thought Katie did a great job carrying it off. Also, the Jen and Grams bonding of sorts was good, a development. Pacey won just about every girls heart once again by making himself look like a fool, saving Tamara. I liked their end scene at her house, really sweet.

I'm partial to Bessie's rant to the 9-1-1 guy. It's also one of those episodes that's not laced with D/J undertones which is a plus.
