And when you see this, how can you even think for second (like the writers did), that Andie would be cheating on him?!? That’s just… laughable.
And when you hear Pacey say “You will never lose me, not now and not ever” – then even his reaction about her cheating is way out of line.

Okay, you can tell easily that Andie is still in love with him (I love the scene when she says “I feel great… now” when she hugs him), but he? I mean, he is really glad to see her, that’s true, and I really love all their scenes together, but he is miles apart from being over Joey. And Andie plans to stay in Italy, he plans to go the sea.....
but escecially after season 4 it would have been nice!

They were perfect for each other, I would never disagree with that. But the problem is Pacey. He is written in a way that he loves Joey and has never stopped loving her and he needs her for his happiness.

You would have need a complete different season 6 to make the audience believe that his feelings completely changed and Andie is not just a consolation prize.
And THAT would have destroyed the triangle..... so it could never happen.

YES! That’s for sure! Her leaving made a big, big difference and was just sad. Her struggle with her mental health would have been a great and unique storyline, even without being involved in a romance.

I agree with you about the end of season 4, it was too soon but until the episode 10 of season 6 ( and Audrey's speech about how Joey broke his heart years ago and it's prevented him from ever fully committing to an adult relationship), I had absolutely no reason to think that he was not over her and that he needed her and only her in his life to be happy, I mean come on, he encouraged her to give a chance to Charlie, and don't forget that in the series finale there is a 5 years time jump so a lot could have happened to Pacey including falling again for Andie

I agree with this. I thought it was baffling that Pacey was still single and hung up on Joey in the series finale. In my opinion, his romance with Joey in season 4 was not that spectacular for him to still be in love with her after all that time. Pacey was a great, kind, compassionate, funny, sweet, charming, and charismatic guy, who was handsome, a great chef and a successful business owner. The audience is suppose to believe that there is no woman who would fall for a great catch like him, and that he couldn't find an attractive, intelligent, witty, kind and good woman who could capture his heart and make him forget about Joey. If Pacey could get over Andie, who did far more and treated him far better than Joey, he most certainly should have been able to fully move on and get over Joey.

In my opinion, Pacey did not need Joey to be happy. Unless one is a diehard PJ fan, Pacey being written and portrayed in the series finale to be completely over Joey and happy enjoying the single life or being in a committed loving relationship with a woman he adores and adores him back would not have been unbelievable.

A pandie romance ending is only unbelievable to some because Andie was written out in s4 for pretty much the duration of the show, and in s3 pandie had little interaction. If Andie remain on the show in s4 and for the show's duration, and the fans got to see pandie rebuilt back up then a pandie ending would not be so unbelievable. Pacey was written to be over Andie, so most fans would need to see Pacey falling for Andie all over again and being written to be certain that she was the one for him. Andie is a wonderful woman and I could easily buy Pacey falling for her after spending loads of time with her.

This is how unbelievable the ending is: Girl who has had nothing to do with boy for over seven years, living with a guy who is not said boy goes to boy when she meets him and says I choose you."

The boy drops his life and goes off to NYC with her and is lounging in an apartment with a girl who is an assistant editor, couldn't even afford the payments on the plasma TV, let alone the rent for a high rise luxury apartment.

Basically what that ending told me was that Pacey spent the previous seven years waiting anxiously, doing nothing buy pining over his so called lost true love and was completely over whelmed he dropped his life and followed her like a dog in heat back to NYC.

What it also tells me is that Joey has no morals. She wants to jump out of one guys bed and into another guys bed immediately.

Pretty stupid ending that makes Pacey look like a lost soul dweeb.

The original ending to Dawson's Creek had Pacey and Andie going off to dinner as friends, with the hint of a romance could start anew.

To me a much more practical ending.

Joey marrying Dawson is practical, since obviously had spent a lot of time together over the past few years.

Anyway for me the show ended season four when Andie came back from Italy and Pacey told her how much she meant to him and that he would have not made it with out her.(not the exact words), and Dawson and Joey were snogging in Dawson's bedroom.
