True.

Honestly, I think the Dawson character was initially presented, then continually written, in a way that made it impossible for any other character to change as much as he did. And maybe that's a good thing. I don't know if he was meant to be the focal character on the show (or at least as much as any one character can be in an ensemble like that) but it was called DAWSON'S Creek, so him making the great change makes the most sense to me...

It would have been a bit ridiculous for him to be the title character but stay exactly the same as he was at the age of 15. Though, knowing the writers on DC, they could have made it happen, couldn't they?

I wouldnt put that past the DC writers.

And you have a point, the show was primarily about 4 kids on the creek, but Dawson was the main character, so it was important for him to grow and go through a journey that brought about a significant change in him. Everyone changed over the years, but it was most evident in Dawson, and that made sense.

I think that Dawson "grew up" with the show and with the viewers. Even if he changed a lot I'm glad that he was still a dreamer in the end.

Im happy about that too, cuz thats who Dawson really was. Like Jen said in an episode that the kind of hope he had, his optimism, his belief in everything good, was what made him special.

ITA. Dawson definitely grew up. He matured in a lot of ways. I feel like he became less naive and more responcible in a way...and i loved that

Joey went from the bitter girl (S1) that was looked down on by everyone (except dawson) to the girl that everyone wanted to date (S5). Almost like two completely different characters

I really liked how Jen changed through the years. I hated her in S2 and S5 she's one of my absolute favorites She matured.

Pacey changed in how he viewed himself....which IMO was a result of Andie's faith in him. He changed a lot from S1 to S2 in that respect, and I kind of feel like he lost that again in S3 and S4. But S5 and S6 he was back with his dedication to his job at the restaurant and working for Rich. In respect of Pacey's work ethic, he changed dramatically from S1 to S6.

We need a new topic or we're going to have to change this thread to "Discussion of the Month(s)."

What are some of your favorite comedic moments?

I think one of the funnier moments was in Castaways, when Pacey is trying to choose which condoms he wants and after he picks up a pack, the KMart store associate says, "Very nice." The look Pacey gets on his face is priceless.

That was hilarious.

Dawson's dream in S2 was too funny. Jack and Joey getting engaged and running away to Hollywood to work for Spielberg because Jack ran into him in the cafeteria and offered him a job.

One of my favorite funniest moments is the one between Dawson/Pacey/Jack scene in Appetite For Destruction

Quote:
[Scene: Grams dining room. Pacey and Jack are smiling, giggling and staring at Dawson while still seating at the table.]

Pacey: [Sighs] So... Dawson... Dawson leery.

Dawson: That's my name.

Pacey: Yep. Well, come on, man.

Dawson: Come on, what?

Pacey: Well, first off, why aren't you eating your risotto, but second and far more importantly, why, oh, why did you choose to take the lovely and talented Jen Lindley away for the weekend?

Jack: A woman even my tribe can't resist?

Pacey: A woman who has tugged at the heartstrings of rehabilitated rebels and frat boys alike, and here you are not sharing the details?

Dawson: I got nothin' to share.

Pacey: Really? So that's why you've been staring at the bathroom door like you wish you had telekinetic powers, which means to me that either you are very, very concerned about Audrey's wardrobe, or perhaps you're concerned about Joey.

Jack: Hey, call me crazy, but I don't think Joey's gonna mind a little kissing, unless, of course, something more happened.

Pacey: Now, there's an interesting idea, but what more could have happened?

Dawson: [Sighs] Guys, I'm not gonna go over the bases with ya.

Pacey: I didn't say bases. Did you say bases?

Jack: Guys, we don't need details.

Dawson: All right. I'll be right back.

Pacey: Bases is plural.

[Dawson walks out the room and closes the partition doors]

Jack: Mmm. He did.

Pacey: You think?

Jack: Yeah. Definitely did. You feel different? I do.

Pacey: I do. I feel different. I mean, here we have Dawson Leery walking amongst us, and I gotta tell ya, I'm a little worried that maybe he wasn't prepared. We didn't even get a chance to have the talk. How do you know?

Jack: Mmm, it's not so much him as it is her. I mean, sick as it sounds, I know the look.

Pacey: Oh, man. You know, we almost did, too.

Jack: Mmm, I know. I know. Come to think of it, we almost did once, too.

Pacey: Hmm. What do you think it takes?

Jack: A virgin and a straight guy.

Pacey: [Click] Damn.

What about that scene when Jack and Pacey (unwittingly) goes to the gay bar in season 5 or 6? Can't remember the episode but can remember laughing out loud to that scene.
