[2x19] "Abby Morgan, Rest in Peace" October 20th - October 25th
The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread "Abby Morgan, Rest in Peace" ~ 2x19 Synopsis: Abby's death shocks everyone, and all of Capeside is attempting to "whitewash" her life. All the hypocrisy is making Jen crazy and in a later discussion with Grams, she denounces God and angers Grams in the process. When making a speech at the funeral, she further embarrasses Grams by announcing that Abby taught her the falseness of God. Abby's mother asks Andie to give the official eulogy, thinking wrongly that they were friends. Memories of Andie's brother are brought up and Andie's emotional reactions scare Pacey. Joey is reluctant to go to the funeral, since she hasn't been to one since her mother died years earlier. While at the graveyard, she and Dawson decide to visit her mother for the first time. Grams is so disgusted with Jen's speech at the funeral that she packs her bags and tells her to find somewhere else to live. We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new things we never noticed before. We will watch one episode every two weeks. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode. We will update this thread every second Friday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion can take place in here too. Have Fun! __________________

I really like what Andie said about Abby. Andie sure did have a way of seeing the best in people, even of people like Abby Morgan.

Andie's speech about Abby was very good, she found a way to honor her memory while being honest.

Sad episode, I thought it was done really well.
I liked seeing Jen's grief but her speech was so harsh. Andie's speech about Abby was really great! Andie is a great speaker. I also like that the episode allowed for Joey to reflect on her mother's death. Once again DJ moments were great! The spooky ending was a bit too much for this show but classic KW. lol. __________________

It was sad, but yet the sadness wasn't really related to Abby's death so much as it was about the others. I felt Jen's pain and I think she played her part very well. I loved how Pacey offered to speak in Andie's stead and also loved Andie's speech.
I felt bad for Grams in that episode too. __________________

I think Jen's part in this episode was the best. I understood where she was coming from.
I also liked the moment with Dawson and Joey by her mom's grave even though it was sad. __________________

Good episode all around but I totally disagreed with everything Jen was saying/doing in this episode. Grams was right to tell her that she shouldn't drown her grief in alcohol and Jen was really harsh towards her. It was heartbreaking to see Grams pack her things but I think Jen needed that push to realize how far her guilt/pain were taking her. She showed a lack of respect/love for her grandmother in this episode and pushed her away at every turn when all Grams was doing was to comfort/support her in this difficult time. In return, Jen raged against God without thinking about how anyone else in that church was feeling or what they believed. Which as a believer in God/Christ, I didn't appreciate. Michelle's acting in this episode was good though and I did understand why Jen was so angry but it's never entertaining to watch characters self-destruct. It was nice to see her confess her true feelings to Andie.
It was kind of awkward to watch Andie going through Abby's things and trying to find a way to say something nice about the girl who took so much pleasure in everyone's pain. I did like her speech though and I think she meant every word of it. Sad that the episode ended with her seeing an image of Abby in the mirror. It was creepy but I already know where it's heading. I hope Abby just went to her journal to trash life, much like Joey did and she didn't truly think/feel all the things she wrote. It was interesting to see Joey talk about/grieve for her mother in this episode. I like how they tied Abby's death into that and it was great to see her process those feelings. And to see her push herself to attend another funeral and to visit her mother's grave for the first time in 3 years. The guys were more in supporting roles in this episode which I liked. __________________
