Aren't they great.

Failing Down Review - Part Eight
Gretchen decides to take the PJ drama into her own hands the next morning by wrenching the living room curtains open and advising the sleeping-on-couch-in-a-wifebeater-or-as-we-would-say-in-Australia-singlet Pacey to get up, shower, dress and apologise to Joey.
As Pacey squints in the sunlight: Do you think maybe you could just leave me alone? Gretchen parks herself on the coffee table, her thigh dangerously close to a plate of what must be dinner left-over’s. Amazing.
She proceeds to inform Pacey that he’s going to sabotage this relationship before it has a chance to become something. At least we’re all admitting that currently PJ DON’T have something. I would argue that they have even less as the show progresses.
Getting up off the erm…couch, Pacey heads for the ah…kitchen (all these symbols...) and while grabbing some juice from the fridge admits that he feels like a moron sometimes because his dad and brother have always told him that he’s stupid.
While he has a drink (straight out of the bottle) and grabs a random bite of something on the bench, Gretchen agrees that the elder Witter men are just jerks and have so many problems that Pacey should just throw them a huge pity party already. Well, I have to say that Pacey sure knows how to do that. Maybe he should take out an ad for such services – perhaps paint it on that ugly wall that not even Joey can bear to touch.
Gretchen adds that the problem isn’t Dad Witter or Deputy Doug telling Pacey he’s an idiot, rather it’s Dawson who is constantly whispering in your ear, telling you that you're not good enough. He's just a ghost, Pace.
Yes, a ghost, as in it’s not real. And umm, isn’t the one who’s actually, for real, like literally, whispering in Pacey’s ear that he’s not good enough and that he’s gas station material, well, isn’t that JOEY?!
She picked you. And now you have to deal with it.
Yes. She picked you Pacey. Deal with it. It isn’t going to be pretty - even seven years later.

Later that day at the Capeside Yacht Club, Joey nearly loses her job because Mrs. Valentine has reason to suspect that she’s not the great friend of the Ross’ as originally claimed. You see the family is in Paris which means the ‘Owen Ross’ who signed Joey’s receipts yesterday must have been a fake and Miss Potter didn’t spot it. MDHG/Owen Ross himself, suddenly appears at the door and says: Mom… Owen Ross, he was here. I saw him, my own two eyes.
Joey stares at MDHG/Owen Ross/and-now-Drue-Valentine as it suddenly dawns on her that two can play at being someone else. Despite being guilty of the exact same thing she angrily accuses Drue Valentine, who’s just saved her job, of lying.
Drue: Okay, alright. So I'm not who I said I was. I'm actually a lot more fun.
And he is. Totally loved his addition to season 4. And I could ship Drue and Joey for a harmless few episodes.

Only one part left! And I won't be saving it for the 50th.

Poor wittle Pacey. It must be rough dealing with her. Seriously.

Such a great point, Deb. But then again, nothing is ever really Joey's fault. She does nothing wrong, so we'll just look past this...

Can't wait for the last part, Deb!!!

Deb, I was gonna say if you send me the lecture file once it's all done I could try and code it and ask Bea to upload it to the site with the other amazing lectures.

I always found it hilarious that once she picked him, he couldn't deal with knowing that she'd picked him. Oh, the irony...

Ha ha me too I think! They had some decent chemistry

I couldn't agree more. They started feeling 'alive' and ended up feeling like nothing. That tells you something, right?

this is so right!
She just can't believe in the guy. I mean, how can you have a relationship with someone who only expects the worst from you?

Yes. She picked you Pacey. Deal with it. It isn’t going to be pretty - even seven years later.
Far from pretty... and the worst part? She picked him again and he took her. She gave him a speech about how she loved him and included "And I love Dawson, he's my soulmate" in.the.same.moment and the guy didn't even blink, he ended up in her couch, watching her soulmate's TV show! Pacey, what is the problem with you?

You mean, 3-4 months...(and counting) and they're not already defined as a something. Does that mean they are a nothing? Wow, Gretchen is GOOD.

That's just too easy. I'm saying nothing.

He could have stopped right there. If someone feels like a moron and acts like moron, then ya know...looks like a duck, quacks like a duck... No I don't mean Pacey is a duck. Pacey is a moron...sometimes. But only when he's ironicly, with Joey.

Okay, to clear a few things up.

1. I sure hope that only Pacey drinnks from this bottle, cuz otherwise ewwwww.

2. If I were someone from a strange land...read planet and read the above I would think Pacey ate something that was maybe lying on the bench all night. Right/wrong? answers on a postcard please.

Joey has a wall? Wasn't only rented? Wonder what became of that wall, once Pacey had vandalised it.

First of all, WTH!! Dawson has done NOTHING wrong. UNless there's some like B or even C story that was cut due to the rivetting story and lack of time to share it. I saw no ghost. I never even heard Dawson utter the words. Pacey's not good enough.

And second of all, I can't be bothered elaborating further.

*gasp* You wrote that out loud. Not Perfect Princess Potter!!!

I too could have shipped Drue...but only for a few episodes.

Well, I fear that Mr Witter's problem is he (for lack of a better word) loves Joey. He somehow has managed to forget about the, go to hell, I don't feel it, I picked Eddie over you Neil Armstrong, the misery, the making him feel like nothing, never good enough, that his sex is only nice, that he's never as important as Dawson (who she went to when Jen died speaks volumes), that he's inferior to Dawson (hot-shot director). Instead all he remembers is the 8:55 smoochies.

So yeah, Pacey has selective amnesia and he doens't remember eveything.

Oh, Deb you said nice on a PJ thread. Pacey's gonna be pissed at you.

Thread title perhaps.

Anti-PJ #??: cuz Pacey dosen't think 'nice' is adequate and Joey doesn't think he is either.

Nodding along to your post, Karen...and laughing, too. You make excellent points.

And that thead title? SO nice. I actually mean that, though. It's great.

Well Maddie, someone had to say them. I think we all tend to agree in our loathing of PJ.

I really wanna use that title now...we need to hurry.

So we need to come up with a list of the top 5 Anti-PJ moments. I'll start off the list, and you guys can add whatever else you can think of...

A few scenes off the top of my head:

"Coming Home" - Pacey telling Joey that they're leaving the beach movie thing. Bickering ensues.

"Failing Down" - Fighting on Pacey's porch about Dawson knowing that Pacey's failing. Dawson. Imagine that.

"Four Stories" - The dreaded morning-after. Joey's look of disgust in the bed and/or their discussion of Pacey's...abilities (or lack thereof) later on.

"Promicide" - The big fight scene. "...you can go to hell". Heh.

"Love Bites" - Joey doesn't "feel it".

These are the top five that stand out in my mind. With "Four Stories" I would probably go with their talk later on being the best, because Joey storms off leaving him on the couch, along with his...well...nevermind.

Any other suggestions that I may, and probably have, forgotten?
