It's funny because Dawson had like 3 of those dreams throughout the series... and he didn't take them as signs? lol Clearly his subconscious was trying to speak to him.

Exactly! The Gods were speaking to him about this relationship.

Even in dreams, Dawson and Joey are no good for each other.

I've never understood the attraction. In the beginning, maybe. However, they both changed so much that they sort of outgrew one another romantically. Anyone thinking that you're destined to be with your childhood crush forever and ever is seriously disillusioned.

ITA Mandy, the attraction at first is quite normal (i had one on my childhood's friend too) but when you grow up it's a whole different thing. And i think they just went together to try which is ridiculous to try just to try and not because you want to. Just because you "have" to give it a shot

Amen. I think almost everyone sort of understood the DJ attraction in the beginning. But like you said, it lasted all of about 5 minutes and not only were we over it, but so were Dawson and Joey.

DJ? Disillusioned? More like illusioned and delusional!

You do have to feel a bit sorry for the guy though. He was never able to let go. And nobody would live up to Joey. He had to let go if he wanted any of his relationships to work.

I mean it's his own fault if he cant get over it. i think he did though while datin Jen in season 5

Same here

Their relationship was so frustrating, there was never enough, always awkward, never worked as a couple. If they would have stayed as friends there was a possibility (a very slim one) that I thought they were kinda cute together, lol.

I hate how in season three he was so dead set on himself and Joey moving on from each other and growing up... until he finds out about her and Pacey. Yeah Dawson, that's true love.

it doesnt so much bother me the fact that he never got over her because pacey seems to have never gotten over her either...
my problem is that he actively sought to never get over her. he still held on to this hope that she will one day come back to him...just "like it's supposed to be!"
pacey couldn't be happy without joey, but dawson never even tried.
JMO though.

ITA Shh, Dawson didnt even try, he was always stuck in that place...that delusional bubble that everything will work out and he'll get the girl cause he's the hero. Every realtionship he was in...he was always talking about Joey, He never focused on himself and the girl. At least Pacey and Joey both tried to move on and see what else there is beside the triangle.

Exactly Pacey tried and just understood he couldnt be happy without her, Dawson only tried because she was dating someone and he was pissed..get over it already seriously. He tried with Gretchen more because he was alone and lost Joey than anything else and he tried with Jen because Joey didnt really want to be close to him then and even if I think he was great with Jen I think he didnt really want it to work. Anyway this is the anti DJo thread...

And DJo never worked as friends or lovers...JMO of course

With Gretchen all he talked about was Joey and Pacey. He told his current girlfriend that he always thought he was going to sleep with his ex girlfriend and just go on and one about it. I'm sorry but...what guy does that and expects to stay with current gf?

I really had hoped that the realtionship Dawson had with Jen in season 5 would have worked out. I really truly thought that those two could have loved each other but...Dawson wasn't over Joey as we saw in the 100th episode.

when joey and pacey went away, sure, it was easy to forget... but they came back and throughout his relationship with gretchen, it did always come back to joey... not to mention him asking her if she slept with pacey? that was rude and crass. a guy who is trying to get over his ex does not ask her about her sexual relationship with her current bf while he himself had a current gf.

as for dawson and jen's relationship? without any disrespect to them as a couple, i dont think it has any relevance here, nor does him being with gretchen to be honest. him dating other women is not exactly a means of getting over a girl. it'll never work and not at all what i meant by saying actively seeking to get over someone.

i'll make a little comparison. in season 5, after mitch died... pacey went up to joey and told her she should have her shot with dawson and that they "deserved" it. as hard as it was for him to say, he did it anyway. that is what i mean by actively trying to get over a girl. pacey dated and slept with many women after joey, but that is not what i consider him actively trying to get over her. they say that when you give, you love. pacey had his share of women, but what proves to me that he was trying to get over her was when he gave her his blessing (not implying that she needed it any way).
dawson was never able to do that. actually, he did the complete opposite when he asked joey if she and pacey slept together in season 4.
