I agree. When i watched the first season, i kinda liked them, but they were still a little boring and then in season 2 they were just a disaster and were from then on. And now whenever i watch season 1 i just can't stand watch DJo and yeah, they are...ugh!

That's why Castaways is one of my favorite episodes-i mean, besides all the awesome and wonderfully great moments between PJo, i also like it because there is no Dawson or DJo as the case may be. It's so refreshing. LOL

maybe its because I have the disgusting habit of being able to see things from both sides. I've been known to play in BL threads from time to time, too.

There's a part of me that wonders if Dawson wouldn't have been ruined if Kevin Williamson would have stuck around. The show went seriously downhill for the most part after he left.

If Kevin Williamson had stuck around DC would have been sooo different. For example I once read that a relationship between PJ wouldn't have happened till season 4. Dawson was Kevin Williamson so of course he probably would have written him in a better light and not so self centered like the writers had done to him and the show probably would have ended with DJ........I'm actually glad that he left if it meant PJ getting together earlier and them ending up together

Well It was Kevin Williamson himself who wrote that PJ end up together so...

I heard that. he probably wouldn't have written PJ as serious as they were written, that's true, but that doesn't mean they wouldn't have worked better than DJ anyway.

I love PJ, but I hate that other characters had to be ruined for them to get together.

Yes KW did write PJ together at the end but in the beginning of the process he had written DJ as end game, but went back and changed it after he had talked to everyone including PS, I believe that is what he said in the series finale commentary.

I personally do think that KW would have written DJ together, he loved the concept of two best friends falling in love with each other, hell he based a whole show around He probably left them some ideas for season 3 and I bet the writers didn't take them in to consideration. It was as if the parents had left (KW) and the kids (writers) came out and played and did whatever they wanted.

I guess what I'm saying is I would have been ok with KW's version of DJ, which is why i can't completely hate them.

I know PJ was also a couple the network wanted, and as A writer myself, I must say I do have more respect for a writer who does what he wants to do ultimately, and not what others want them to do, so I would have respected and been ok with DJ ending together if that's what Kevin wanted, because I trust him enough as a writer to have done it right.

But the thing is we never got to see KW version of DJ, and we never well. We have what Paul Stupin and the rest of the writers gave us. And I agree a writer should do what he/she wants but the way I see it is, if KW ended DJ together, he would have had to somehow re-write DJ's history in a two hour show for me to understand why DJ ended up together. He would basically have to re-write all the hurtfulness and anger that they brought to their friends and to each other. The DJ we got makes no sense to me getting together at the end. Yes he did redeem them somehow as friends, but not as a couple for end game.

I think that Kevin may have wanted DJ from the start but once he wrote the series finale and had them end up together he saw that it wasn't right. Like, it just didn't make sense so he changed it. He understood that Dawson and Joey were no longer meant to be together romantically because a lot changed since the 2nd season, and I respect him for putting aside his initial wants to do what was fair to the storyline and right for the characters. Ultimately, if he had wrote Dawson/Joey together in the end I'm sure it would have been quality writing but I think it would have been hard to explain how they managed to get back to that place where they hadn't been since they were 15.

From the previous page, no anti-Dawson talk, please!

Exactly... and I can't say that I'd like it because even by the end of S1 I was off the DJ train. The only reason I was on it in the first place was because I loved Joey and Joey pined for Dawson. I could've gotten behind them if they were given build up but Dawson went from utterly oblivious to "in love" in a second just because she put on a dress. He fell for the girl she was not. So even when KW was writing the show I didn't like them lol.

Totally agree with you. Even when he was, Dawson was completely oblivious and thought of her as a sister, and he even says himself it would seem a little incestuous. It's like they were bother doomed from the beginning, even when KW was writing it. But i'm sure not a lot of people saw it back then because they were the main focus of the show.

Completely agree. It's weird how they were the focus of the show yet they were really written to be doomed since S1. Just when I could possibly like them, Dawson falls in love with Joey's dress. They expect us to just go along with that crap? I think not.

Totally. He finally notices her, but only because she's done her hair, has make-up on and has a pretty dress on that show's her body. It's kind of angers me in a way. I mean, he finally opens his eyes, but when he does it's because she's all glamoured up?

And Pacey was attracted to her before she go all glamoured up-granted, he watched her getting dressed in a mirror-but he didn't really see her naked and he started like her before that :p and he actually fell in love with her while she wasn't all dressed up, so, case in point

I think this was the first show where the supposedly "main" couple was the most disliked and hated and the characters for that matter

I liked that Joey called Dawson out after the beauty pageant about him liking her all glammed up, I wish that Joey was more around later in the seasons.

yeah I know it's funny that joey/pacey ended up being much more well-liked than dawson/joey seeing as they were initially written to be end-game. but luckily for us things change and pacey and joey just sparked, and worked really well. i think they just had so much more chemistry together than joey/dawson. that's what always irritated me about joey and dawson. it was like they were still in each others lives not because of this incredible chemistry they shared but because they were both just being polite.

Amen!!! And not only was it the lack of chemistry, for me it was also bad storytelling. PJ were written better imo.

I know... it's almost like Dawson saw Joey as this prize or trophy or something. Like, he finally wanted her because Glamoured Joey fit into his fantasy.
