Another thing that frustrates me is that he never blamed Joey, he always always blamed Pacey. Umm...it takes two to tango dude Why put all the blame on Pacey, what is Joey some naive virginal angel that didn't know what she was doing

Yeah and then he give the lame excuse "You apologized, he didn't" But then later in the episode Pacey does apologize-very honorably, i might add-but he just barely says anything and walks off in the other direction and it takes him like...four or five episodes before he even says a word to Pacey or says anything direct to him. And Andie putting Pacey's hand around Dawson's in 407 doesn't count and in 408 at the end Dawson says something along the lines that they might be friends again or whatever.

I know! Dawson completely blamed Pacey like he thought that he was taking advantage of Joey - he even said that once to Dawson after the Regatta. He was just unable to understand the concept of Joey actually wanting it and being just as much to blame. Not that blame should have been passed. But possibly the most hurtful part of D/Jo's relationship was the way they just didn't want each other to be happy with other people. They didn't want each other - they just didn't want to lose each other. Whereas with Joey and Pacey they loved each other so much that they knew if they couldn't be together they still wanted one another to be happy.

Totally agree, heather. Just like what Pacey says in the finale "It's really important to me that you be happy. Weather its with Dawson or New York guy or someone you haven't met yet. I just want you to be with someone who makes you as happy as i am when i'm with you"

Proves what you just said. Dawson never said that Joey, Joey never said that to Dawson. They had this twisted relationship and you can tell in the beginning of season 2 that they went somewhere they just shouldn't have gone. It messed things up royally from then on.

exactly! i've always thought that dawson and joey should of just remained just friends and avoided creating that awful co-dependent unhappy relationship they had. but now that i think of it , dating and being each other's first love was probably good for both of them because it was a learning experience and then they wouldn't have to go through life wondering if they worked as a couple. i think dawson and joeys main problem was that they just were so easy to slip back into later in life. they should of just let it end when they were 15 and taken it for what it was worth - a learning experience and a good memory, instead of drawing it out so long seeing as it was so destructive.

I totally agree with you both. They always thought about themselves and not each other when they were together.

I hate that they got together at all because I liked their friendship. But as you said, it's a good thing they did when they were young, got it out of the way. Though it didn't need to be so prolonged lmao.

Dawson always felt very protective of Joey, and not in a good way. he had this image of her as a defensless, helpless 15 year old that needed saving, his whole life, when she was more than capable of taking care of herself. she was a badass!

I don't think I remember Dawson ever being protective of Joey, possessive yes, but protective...idk lol Joey was possessive as well, as we saw in season 1 and then when Eve came along lol.

True. I think possessive is a better word.

Oh yeah, i don't remember either of them ever being protective, just possessive. Dawson just wanted Joey back when she went to Jack and when he found out about her and Pacey, look what he did to try and get her back. That is not protective, that is definitely possessive. Almost killing Pacey in a boat race (How could that win her heart over?) then giving Joey the false pretense that they were going to the prom as friends, but really he was just trying to claim his "territory" Seriously, he always thought of hers as his. And Joey could be like that when it came to Dawson as well, which sucks. Their story was extended long enough and sometimes i think the writers just kept bringing their relationship up because as first in season 1 it was supposed to be about them.

But in real life, i think they would have just moved on realized they weren't for each other. Or maybe not, people don't always know things for sure when they are young...i don't know.

I think that they were each other's security blanket and that that's why they just kept going back to each other. and finally by the end they were able to outgrow that possive streak and move on, but seriously the way they went back to each other like that got so old and annoying, and they both admitted at points throughout the show that they were simply afraid of losing one another - which implies their extreme possessiveness.

Exactlyyy. On more than one occasion they admitted that. Even way back in the Pilot... "It's not like I wanted to be the one holding your hand, I just didn't want her holding it." I believe that was the quote.

I think jealousy is natural but it's what you do about it that matters. DJ always threw themselves at each other or staked claim on one another when they were jealous. Instead of sucking it up and being happy for each other. They were so selfish.

You know, there's a part of me that watches season 1 and 2, when kevin still wrote this show, and i miss DJ. I shipped them the first two seasons. even 301 kinda hurts my heart a little. but then I watch all of season 3 and the way Dawson behaved especially towards the end, and I'm like 'what a freaking whiny spoiled little brat! You don't OWN her, punk!'.

It's the opposite for me when I watch season 1 and 2, I can't stand them because I know what they did in their so called "relationship" which totally ruins it for me. They hurt people around them just so they can get back at each other, they broke each other down, they weren't satisfied in their lives until the other was hurting, they didn't want each other to be happy. If I do watch a full episode of DC and they are on screen together, I cringe, they are just soo....ugg
