I think more than anything (even more than him thinking Joey had no mind of her own), that he saw Joey as a fantasy. He never saw her as a person but rather a concept that he idolized and wanted to conquer. If Joey was anything other than his delusional fantasy of soulmates, he would have been as angry as at her as he was with Pacey. He figured all roads would lead back to Joey and himself so he had no reason to be angry with her.
I remember Dawson's speech to Pacey in 6x21. It was truly pathetic that he actually thought Pacey owed him anything. He's talking crap about how Pacey hooking up with Joey was when he realized Pacey was not his friend. How about when he spent years acting like Pacey was a loser. Did that not clue him in to the fact that they were not friends? I love the list is reasons. ![]() __________________

^ Yeah, I completely agree w/ you on that..
I hate how Dawson acting like Joey is prize for him when he doesn't know much about her unlike Pacey does.. I hate how he said those things to Pacey when he always focus on himself since I feel like he just being selfish all the time.. __________________

How Dawson treats Pacey is one of my biggest pet peeves of the show. If I had a friend like Dawson, he wouldn't be my friend for long if he talked to me like that.
Dawson didn't know Joey the way Pacey did. Dawson knew stuff about her as a child, not stuff about her as an adult. __________________

I just rewatched the DC series finale. I thought Dawson/Joey's speech about soulmates came off like a sad consolation prize to their fans and at that point it was obvious she chose Pacey. I jut kept thinking about his speech at the end of season 3 where he tells Joey that none of her words mean anything because she is going to turn around and leave him.

Re watching the speech it is pretty obvious to me who Joey picked too.

I think that speech would have been better off being removed. It really was completely obvious from that speech that she chose Pacey because it came across as if Dawson was consoling himself because Joey was not in love with him. Another thing I found sad was that he wrote Colby as getting the girl at the end of the season. It's like he had to console himself in any way he could and quite frankly it was embarrassing and sad to watch. I think he should have been given a chance to move on from Joey.

I really think they should have brought in Gretchen, or somebody that Dawson was good with for him. I understand he was relieving his life through his tv show, but I wonder how he was going to have Colby and Sam end up.

Or writing himself having sex with Joey. It's uncomfortable and pathetic. She's Pacey's girl and he should just accept it.

Now that would be an uncomfortable scene to see. It was bad enough we had to see it once.

I think it's inappropriate for Pacey to watch Dawson pretend he got the girl on TV.
I wish they would do a 10 year reunion and Dawson is forced to see Pacey and Joey's 2 children. ![]() __________________

The thing I didn't like was that Joey fed the fantasy. When Dawson told Joey in the finale that she was the only thing in his life that made sense and he forgot that [Pacey said it first and better in Castaways, btw], Joey could not reciprocate, so she said he got to live life twice or something like that. It was just sad for Dawson. Even though she didn't tell Jen who she chose, it was obvious in that Dawson and Joey scene that Dawson was not "the one."
