The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread

"Coming Home" ~ 4x01

Synopsis: Pacey and Joey return from their summer vacation on "True Love". Now they have to deal with Dawson's feelings, who has been deeply hurt over the past few months. At first, he doesn't want to talk with either one of them, but Jen convinces him to talk to Joey. Meanwhile, Pacey's older sister, Gretchen, arrives in Capeside and moves in with Doug, making Pacey homeless. He refuses to live with his parents anymore (going so far as to declare that he would rather sleep on death row), and after exhausting all other options, ends up back on his boat. Dawson tells Jack about his childhood crush on Gretchen. Andie meets two French boys, and she is attracted to both of them. Joey apologizes for hurting Dawson, but he tells her he isn't sure if he wants their friendship back. Everybody is wondering if Pacey and Joey had sex while on their trip, but both refuse to discuss it. However, when Dawson asks the same question, Joey tells him the answer wouldn't kill him, confirming that she and Pacey have not yet slept together.

We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time
viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to
discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new
things we never noticed before. We will watch one episode every two weeks. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact
time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode.
We will update this thread every second Friday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion

TFTNT! Pjo fought and made up in this episode but I was still shipping them. their scene when they jump off the boat is one of my favorite. I didn't like that pacey was called names by joey in this episode though.

For me, seeing this episode, once I saw Pacey's new haircut, something vanished. It was like once Pacey cut his beautiful hair off, he also cut off any fond feelings I had for Pacey and Joey as a couple. This episode marked the end of my love of Pacey and Joey and my renewed interest in Dawson. Though I also disliked Dawson's haircut as much as I disliked Pacey's.

I'm not much of a fan of Pacey's haircut either.

Although Dawson's gets very long this season.

When it comes to haircuts though, Jen's hair is absolutely BEAUTIFUL throughout this season. Gosh, she's gorgeous.

I actually liked the Pacey's hair that way and the reason why he cut it just made it even better. I loved that opening scene when they are on the boat and the comfort in which they interact, just so sweet and adorable. Then the romantic way they ran back to each other after going their separate ways, just made me melt a little.

The rest of the episode was okay, I liked Andie's story and she look amazing in a bathing suit. You could clearly tell she was not really a teenager. I also liked that Pacey and Gretchen actually liked each other even though there was that banter. It was nice to see Pacey actually had someone in his corner for a change.

I love the scene where Joey goes into Dawson's room and discovers how he's changed over the summer. I think that was pretty powerful

This episode for me was where Pacey and Joey began to lose that chemistry I thought they had in the previous season. And I absolutely despise the way the pair of them acted in regards to Dawson. Pacey was out of line entirely but Joey should also have taken into consideration Pacey's nervousness about returning to Capeside and that yes Dawson was still a fear for him. I found it sad that they had to argue about him straight away but I guess that was a hint of what was to come.

The introduction of Gretchen was very cool but you knew immediately from the way Dawson bumped into her at the hardware store and then his discussion with Jack, she was being set up as his love interest for the season. Still I very much enjoyed their interaction.

dawson grew up a lot this season.

Dawson did grow up a lot in S4 and I did like his friendship with Jack.

I have to agree with you. He fit into all his friendships very well and I even liked him in the brother role too. However, my favourites were Jack/Jen and Jack/Pacey, in that order. He was a very likable character.

I loved that little scene in the hardware store when he asks Dawson about the girl, his reaction to Dawson asking what girl was priceless.

yes, I love that too. I've always been neutral on him as a character though.
