The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread

"Reunited" ~ 2x20

Synopsis: Dawson decides to take Joey out to dinner to celebrate their first month together. Mitch Leery also makes reservations at the same restaurant, and when the management fail to realise there are two Leery parties, all four are forced to sit together. Miss Kennedy, Dawson and Joey fight causing Miss Kennedy to leave. Later, Jen (who is now living at the Leery house) arrives with Gail, which inspires a plan to get Gail and Mitch together again. Also reunited are Andie and her deceased brother. Pacey and Jack catch on that she thinks he is with her, but it is just a figment of her imagination. After a showdown with Andie, Jack and Pacey engineer a plan to aid her medical recovery.

We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time
viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to
discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new
things we never noticed before. We will watch one episode every two weeks. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact
time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode.
We will update this thread every second Friday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion
can take place in here too. Have Fun! :group_hug:

Sounds interesting. I might check it out.

This episode. Andie's breakdown. So heartbreaking. :( Here's a little fanvid I found that was dedicated to this episode. So touching.

I'm also posting this because this is Pacey/Andie's last episode together before they break up in Season 3, so I felt like this was needed to have one final look back.

I felt so bad for Andie in this episode. She went through a lot.

OutoftheWoods 10-28-2013 01:19 PM

I'm such an idiot 'cause Pacey/Andie actually have their last episode together NEXT episode, hehe, whoops. :D Oh well.

I know, poor girl. She went through so much that she didn't deserve.

I have mixed feelings about this episode. On one hand I feel for Andie and I think Pacey was amazing to stick by her like that, but on the other hand, I just felt she pushed him away a little too much and that he always tried harder than she did in the relationship.

When I watching this I did not know that there was a future relationship for Pacey and Joey, so I'm not biased in my comments.

I guess what I'm saying is that even though I loved Andie and love Meredith, I never fell into the Pandie relationship, so was not sorry to see her leave to go get help.

|As far as the quality of the actors, Meredith was very believable in her role and you really did feel for her. Although Josh is an amazing actor I never felt he pulled off his devotion as much as I've seen him in other roles. There was a level of chemistry between them, but it never reached it's maximum potential. These are just my personal opinions about the show and by no means are they meant to offend and Pandie fans.

I somewhat agree with you. This episode is absolutely heartbreaking and cried watching it. Meredith and Josh did an amazing job actingwise and were completely believable. Josh did a great job talking to Andie and it was tragic to watch him and Jack try to help her. The moment when she opened the door :bawl: But I do feel that Meredith portrayed it even more believable, she really touched me in this episode, she is such an amazing actress.
I can't believe they break up so soon after this

I have to say I didn't really like the restaurant part. It has the vibe of a comedic mix up with awkward results and that just doesn't fit well with the portrayal of mental illness in the same episode, IMO

When you watch this scene it makes what transpired next so unbelievable. There is no way that the Andie of season two would have cheated.

I can understand the writers breaking up Pacey and Andie, but the total character destruction of Andie was poor and lazy writing.

I guess the writers felt they had to totally destroy Andie's character to even make Pacey and Joey believable.

Another great Dawson Creek scene with Meredith Monroe was when Jack came out of the closet to his father. Meredith Monroe, Kerr Smith and the late David Dukes turned in what in my opinion the best acted scene on the series.

Great Episode!!! Especially because James and Katie where dating around then..made their boat scene full of chemistry!!

Season 2 Rocks! DJ Forever!

I loved this episode and I agree with Tony. I don't think andie would have ever cheated on pacey. it was unrealistic, I definately felt they were the most real and adult on the show.

Andie's sudden break down felt totally weird to me but I guess after Abby's death it stirred things up. It was really hard to watch her like this and I felt bad for Pacey. I wish it had been a bit more subtle in build up though. Nevertheless, the scenes between them were fantastic and Pacey encouraging her outside the door was so sweet. Pacey hugging her was sdfdsfdsfds. JOSHUA JACKSON I CANNOT. This is why/how I fell so hard for him, he's just freaking amazing.

Dawson/Joey were so fantastic together. I loved seeing them as a couple and happy for once lol. Joey defending Dawson against the bitch teacher was freaking amazing!

I'm just completely over the Dawson's parent drama.

I actually saw this coming, so it wasn't weird to me at all. She had that mini meltdown when she was helping Dawson with his movie and she was on medication. Besides, it's a teen show, so they have to address as many controversial topics that they can.

You won't get any arguments from me. He's incredible, I love his acting and he's so freaking sexy and funny and cute. Love, love, love him.

I also loved the way Joey stood up for Dawson and even after he said to just forget about it. She gave it pretty good to that teacher. Joey did the same thing with Audrey when her mother kept picking on her. I secretly applauded her then as well.

Alexa 03-08-2017 11:28 AM

They just really knew how to write for Pacey, thats for sure. They just made him so lovable.

I think a break down was coming yes, but it was very sudden, they could have built it up just a bit more imo.

I always love Joey when she stands up for herself/people and does the right thing. She often annoyed me, especially in the early seasons, but I always liked the fire that she had.

^ I get what you're saying Alexa. Andie's breakdown was coming but I think they should've had another episode between this one and the last to show that more. They skipped ahead in the timeline a month so it would've helped to have another episode to separate this one from the last one. Maybe they could've just had us see hints of her seeing Tim before actually revealing who he was and why he was so important to her. It was obvious that's who he was so it wasn't a big surprise. But it was well done and so important for them to acknowledge that Pacey couldn't make all this go away, no matter how much they love each other. I was so glad to see him there for her as well as Jack. Her choosing Pacey over her Tim was really heartbreaking. Great acting from Josh and Meredith here.

The beginning of this episode was really fun with everyone hanging out them admitting they were becoming a clique. It was funny how they then had a pillow fight to "fight" against the idea of being like the BH 90120 kids. :P

Dawson/Joey were really cute in this episode. After so much angst for them this season, it was refreshing to see them just together. Them teasing each other in that "persnickety" scene was especially great. It's sweet how Dawson made reservations for them at a French restaurant, kind of a throwback to their first date. Too bad his dad was there then his mom. :P But it was interesting to see Joey standing up for Dawson and working with Jen to get Mitch/Gail back together.

It was actually nice to see Gail bonding with Jen as well. And then seeing her dance with Mitch later on. Just sad that he still ended up with the teacher at the end of the episode. I can see why that dance gave her hope for their future together. She had to be really hurt by that. :(

I thought this was a well balanced episode, there was a lot of angst with Andie/Pacey but it was balanced with the lighter stuff with the rest of the gang, interspersed with slightly angsty moments for them as well though.
