^ Probably but I think she hurt his feelings more by being dishonest. And she did a turn around a few episodes later so did she really not want to date him? Or was she just confused? I think Jen's characterization in s1 is hard to follow.

I think you are right about Jen's characterization being hard to follow early on. I felt it was like that until S2 as well and maybe it was because she never really fit in all that much. Having Jack in her life definitely changed that. They were each others saviours and they were the true definition of soulmates.

^ Yeah her bond with Grams and Jack really helped her "find her way" in a sense.
She was kind of floating around aimlessly in s1 and most of s2.__________________
