254 daisies & roses 4 Dawson & Joey "Bc she's so lucky to have fallen in love...
... with her best friend"
Title by Britney. Welcome to the Dawson Leery and Joey Potter appreciation thread! A little intro about our couple: who they are and what they mean to each other. Thanx Coolcat200 for this review (about Coda, episode 423) that explains, so beatifully, what D/J are: True North It's there. There's no doubt. But what is it. It's undefinable and yet it's unmistakable: the thickening of the air when Joey and Dawson share a scene. Is it chemistry? Joey and Pacey have chemistry, but it's not like what she has with Dawson. It's something different. It's something more. I've never been one to go in for the whole soul mate thing, but I think it fits. These two people are part of each other, extensions of each other. No matter where they go or whom they are with, they will always come back together because one can't survive without the other. Joey said that Dawson is her magic. She loved, maybe still loves, Pacey but the magic faded. Love alone wasn't enough to sustain them. But with Dawson, after everything they have been through, the magic still flows. Dawson wasn't thanking Spielberg. The director wasn't the most prolific influence in his life. He didn't shape Dawson and make him the man he is today. Joey did that. There's no doubt that they love each other, and that they always will. But it more than that. It's about finding someone whose life is so intrinsically linked to your own that you don't know where you end and they begin? And not only being okay with that, but also craving it. It's about finding someone who is so much a part of you that you can't imagine who you would be without them. It's about knowing a person so well that even when the walls are up you see right through them. And no matter where they go from here, Dawson and Joey are that for each other: and they always will be. And that is what this show is all about. You can say that again!! Nothing will ever change that, and that is why we, and everybody else (even the ones who won't admit it out loud ) know that these two would eventually get back together. Once and for all. Now, on with the show... Tom Kapinos "Well, my feelings are this, and this is just one writer's opinion, but to me the show is about Dawson and Joey and it's about these two people who meet really young, and they are sort of meant to be. They are soulmates, but life gets in the way, and it's impossible when you're that young to sustain a relationship like that. So each person has to go off and have other relationships that are positive and real and important. I think Dawson and Joey ultimately... I would like to think they would make their way back to each other, but in the meantime they have all these other relationships to explore." Anna Fricke "I'll say this: I do think that this show, regardless of my opinion, is about the love between Dawson and Joey. When you cut everything else away, those two are at the heart". Greg Berlanti "I sort of always make the case that [Dawson's Creek] is about a pair of soulmates who met too young, and that's who Joey and Dawson are, but part of the power of our show is, how do these people still manage to find their way back to each other?" If there was something that always defined D/J and their history, was music. Music never lies, and that is why I would like to post in here some observations made by Brandi about some of the lyrics used for our couple. It was (and it still is) Dawson and Joey all the way baby! They even have their own song, written specially for them: "Joey girl", by Binge (see lyrics scrolling down) Anyway, here you got Brandi's post: --------------------- I was listening to my D/J comp CD's last night, and I just fell in love with D/J's songs all over again. I listened to them straight through for hours, and I kept hearing the same themes popping up in the songs: Marriage: "Love for all my life, to have and to hold"- (Sunday Kind Of Love) "He and I, we needed a brass band"- (Thistle) "Someday somebody gonna ask you, a question that you should say yes to"- (Questions) "He wants to marry me, carry me far away"- (Thinking Over) Rain: "In the rain, the pavement shines like silver"- (On My Own) "And rain falls angry on the tin roof"- (I'll Be) "I fall alseep to the sound of London rain"- (London Rain) "Kiss the rain whenever you need me"- (Kiss The Rain) Home: "Too long, too far from home"- (Full Of Grace) "Without a home, without a friend, without a face to say hello to"- (On My Own) "Now I'm just rolling home, into my lover's arms"- (Broken Road) "I'm coming, I'm coming home to you"- (London Rain) "It feels like home to me"- (Feels Like Home) "You see that I'm crying, though I'm going home"- (Music To My Ears) "He took her by the hand, walked her back home, and they took the long way"- (Questions) "So I took a little time, and you took a little space, but the house is feeling cold"- (Tell Me) "So when I lose my way, please call me home, I pray"- (Your Love) Roads/Paths: "God blessed the broken road that lead me straight to you"- (Broken Road) "Like the path of a star, I'll be everywhere you are"- "(Say Goodnight, Not Goodbye) "When the road gets dark, and you can no longer see"- (Have A Little Faith In Me) "Maybe this road we're on's the very thing that's come between us; maybe it's the highway to the very thing that just might save us"- (Each Little Mystery) "I take the road that's right, even if I'm left alone"- (Wait For The Way) "You're really somewhere down the road...I know"- (Souviners) "But borrowed faith is just not the road to take"- (Camelot) "The path of nails and scars is the only way"- (Camelot) "We may never meet again on the bumpy road to love"- (Can't Take That Away From Me) "There are two roads to walk down, and one road to choose"- (Thinking Over) Even in the lyrics, it's clear that D/J are on the "road" to each other, because they are each other's "home". Even though that journey may be a long one and has a lot of obstacles ("rain"), once they finally reach "home", they will be together forever. The music doesn't lie! -------------------------- "What we have is forever". "Yes, it is". "I love you Dawson". "I love you too Joey". "You and me always". "Always". "Joey Girl" Performed and written by Binge All the things that we've been through And all the things we didn't do The colors fade The seasons change And all the time I've waited here for you All the things that I should have done To all the wars we've never won The stars will fall The leaves will change My love for you will always be the same Joey, my arms are open for you Joey, you know that you are mine Joey, you know that I adore you Joey girl, someday I'll make you mine It seems to me that I've been here once before Can't you see that it's all worth fighting for You used to come in through my window But I can't wait here anymore, Joey girl... All that signs that I misread All the things I should have said They haunt me now But things will change My love for you will always stay the same Joey, my arms are open for you Joey, you know that you are mine Joey, you know that I adore you Joey girl, someday I'll make you mine I'll make you mine... Watch the video here Remember: something has to end to begin again. This end was just a new beginning for D/J, like it always has been, because they are... So keep the D&J love going! Courtesy of Britney: *Why do we say Daisies and roses for Dawson and Joey?* In the second season premeir, which is called "The Kiss" Dawson and Joey have their first date, and on that first date Dawson gives Joey a Daisy, he said he thought of everything, chocolates, diamonds, convertables - but he settled for foliage. And Foliage is good. Then in the 602, entitled, "The Song Remains the same", which is the second episode of season 6, Dawson and Joey sleep together, and that morning Dawson gives Joey a White rose, and its increadibly romantic. Joey says that theres a $500 fine to pick them, and he says, It's worth every penny. I think thats the reason why we consider them the Daisy and Roses couple. Carry on D/Jers! __________________

Hi everyone! I love the new title!
Quote:
Besides, I think the writers left it open ended. I think after awhile it would have hit Joey that she made the wrong choice. She'll be sitting there every week with Pacey watching the show Dawson made. How crazy is that? She'll be watching it and she'll just know she made the wrong choice. She would have come back to Dawson. I just know it. Hi Taubman! -Christy __________________

Cool new thread. Season 5 is kind of frustrating I have to say I really hate how the show blew it with D/J in the season. I mean it started off so promising.......I wish they would have built on D/J in the season.

I mean i might be the only fan of Season 5. I know D/J got screwed put really except for the whole professor and Charlie thing. It was the best season in a long time. One of my favorite D/J scenes appeared in
"high anxiety" in season 5. Dawson: I don't know. I don't know. Nothing makes sense to me these days. Can I tell you something? Even if it has the potential to make you sad? Joey, when I made the decision not to go back to L.A... all I could do was daydream about this one thing. Kissing you. I--I was so looking forward to this day when it would finally feel right for you and me to give it another try, you know? For the first time in forever, it seemed so possible. It seemed like it was just around the corner. And then he died. And it just went away. I was living in this fuzzy world of daydreams, and I just got yanked out of it, and... I have no idea how to get back there. And what scares me most is that... maybe I never will. [She kisses him.] Joey: You'll find your way back. In the meantime, I'll... be daydreaming for the both of us. Because what that meant to me was that Joey wanted the relationship with Dawson . I just though it was sweet __________________

I believe this fanart belongs to this thread Bea hope you don't mind i just can't take my eyes off of your fanart.
I was searching some good quotes for my icons i found something Joey said. It's really interesting. You're gonna love it.Please read this conversation. We all remember AJ right? The collage boy on S3.And Morgan? His best friend. Quote:
I loved so much the conversation.I just can't believe that i forgot. Her speech is based on her relationship with Dawson.AJ and Morgan was kind of copy of DJ.How she keeps saying AJ and Morgan have the real thing. They are reailty.A realtionship is not just about romance, exciting and fun. These are not enough to make a realition real.It has to be something more.Something more powerful.AJ and Morgan(aka Dawson Joey) have that thing. We know the "pause and look at each other" is totally DJ thing. They palyed this game on the show all the time.Especially S4. "S1/S2/S3/S5/S6".Every season. There was always a pause and look at each other moment. Those were our "aww" moment. Love Unspoken = Dawson Joey. __________________

Nghn- I totally agree with you about how the whole Morgan and AJ thing paralleled to DJ. Also, this line:
Joey:See, you already have something that is real. And Morgan is just recently realized it. Why do you think she came back from France? Here's the mention of France just like with Joey and also if this whole thing is a parallel to DJ then doesn't that mean that DJ are real too...makes you think doesn't it? And, if this is true then what Joey said to Pacey in the finale doesn't hold any water about she and P being real because that isn't what she inferred to AJ, she was talking about Dawson here not P. I hope that all makes sense. Oh, so many reasons to still, after a year and half, to shake my head at the finale. |

I agree Tye. That line Joey said to Dawson in the bus station made clear that she wanted him to go back to her. And not as aplatonic soulmate, mind you I love that scene. So sad but so powerful
Nag, thanx for bringing that dialogue over. It had been mentioned already some time ago, and once again, yeah, it was one more sign in the road that the writters always made sure to leave for us pointing to a D/J ending. As azdjfan said: one year and a half later, and the ending is still a joke. Nothign new was said, nothing that hadn't been said or done before, so it really held no resolution at all because anything had changed. And to top it all, they used the right references with the wrong couple. After reading that dialogue from S3, the whole "and that is real" speech that Joey gave to P would had made much more sense if she had given it to Dawson (hence the plot of Dawson not living in the real world: he needed Joey for that). Not to mention the running part and the wrong time part (pfft, please D/J were always the king and queen of bad timing, that is why they weren't together for almost a whole year, unlike others). Or how that was what had kept her moving, because as she said to Dawson once: 'A friend who is always with me'; or 'I can't picture my future without you' (or sth like that). D/J was the only couple that was constant for the 6 seasons, whatever they were together or not, no matter who they were with: Pacey, Gretchen, Jen, Eddie... there were always D/J hints here and there. Sth that can't be said of certain couple and that is why certain fanbase refuse to buy S5 I guess. But D/J were always present: from S1 to S6. Go figure. Nag, once more, can't wait to see your icons And thank for bringing over my fanart Talk to you soon D/Jers! __________________

The one by bsb
I'll be the one I guess you were lost when I met you Still there were tears in your eyes So out of trust and I knew No more than mysteries and lies There you were, wild and free Reachin' out like you needed me A helping hand to make it right I am holding you all throught the night Chorus: I'll be the one (I'll be the one) Who will make all your sorrows undone I'll be the light (I'll be the light) When you feel like there's nowhere to run I'll be the one To hold you and make sure that you'll be alright Cuz my fear is gone And I want to take you from darkness to light There you were, wild and free Reachin' out like you needed me A helping hand to make it right I am holding you all through the night Chorus To hold you, and make sure that you'll be alright You need me like I need you We can share our dreams comin' true I can show you what true love means Just take me hand, baby please... I'll be the one I'll be the light Where you can run To make it alright I'll be the one I'll be the light Where you can run Chorus I'll be the one I'll be the light Where you can run To make it alright I'll be the one I'll be the light Where you can run To make it alright I'll be the one To hold you, and make sure that you'll be alright I'll be the one This so remind me of dawson and joey. __________________

I love both of those scenes.
Tye, your not alone, i really did like S5, it wasn't the greatest season but, hey, it was way better the season 3. And i know im not a Dawson and Jen fan, but i did think they were cute. I felt the writers were planning on using season 5 as a base, to build up to a big D/Jo relationship, but they lost it somewhere along the way. Like 3 episodes in those plans went right out the window. Opps, no, wheres the drama, the conflict? I think the writers felt that they needed another triangle, cuz it was clear to me that p/j were over and done with. And why not bring the original back? Dawson, Jen, and Joey. Because they felt they lost the magic the show once had, they tried to bring it back, but didn't succed, and i think they relized that and knew S6 was the last season, so i think they thought they could just slap somethings together for the thing called S6. Im a making sense or just rambling on? Im all over the place. __________________

It was amazing to me how Joey was so over Pacey after they first talk in season 5 . I mean it bothered Joey somewhat seeing Dawson kiss Gretchen yet Joey seemed to have cared less about Pacey sleeping with her roommate. I mean up until Clean and Sober I just saw zero romantic vibes with them. Joey and Pacey looked almost like Brother and Sister! To be honest I can see why P/J fans hate season 5. I also find it funny when I hear talk about D/J being nothing but ''Platonic'' in the later seasons. Well, I am sorry but there was nothing platonic about the end of 601 and 602. It was obvious Loves Bites true intention and whenever I watch the Series Finale dvd At the end I am always left with this sad unfulfilled feeling. I said this before I find it funny how Joey talks about running yet all the scenes in the cut montage at the end show her running or walking away from Dawson. I cringe when I hear Stupin say on the DVD that ''This first hour was written with the intent that these 2 soulmates are finally going to come together''. Because that's what should have happened.

Coolcat You gave me another great reason to love season 5. I think its funny how quickly she got over Pacey. She wanted Dawson there not Pacey. Thanks for mentioning that. I have this huse smile on my face
