The Official Dawson's Creek Board Rewatch Thread

"Valentine's Day Massacre" ~ 3x14

Synopsis: Joey is disapproving when Dawson is convinced into attending a party by Pacey, who berates Joey for being too protective of Dawson. After reconsidering, Joey decides to attend the party, along with Jack and Andie, who bring along Kate, a childhood friend of theirs. The party soon descends into total chaos, and the gang are rounded up by Doug and thrown in the drunk tank. All except Pacey are later rescued by a stern looking Mitch. Doug retains custody of his little brother on the advice of their father, and the two later have a heart to heart, during which Pacey reveals for the first time that he has feelings for Joey. At the end of the episode, he attempts to talk to her about it, but ends up offering her driving lessons instead. Elsewhere, Jen goes on a date with Henry, which ends in a hospital trip when Henry tries too hard.

We would like to invite everyone to participate in our re-watch, be it first-time
viewer or long-time fan. This is our opportunity to relive the Dawson's Creek days and to
discuss our favorite moments, things we would like to change or maybe totally new
things we never noticed before. We will watch one episode every two weeks. Due to our different time-zones we decided to not name an exact
time and date, so everyone can decide for themselves when they watch the episode.
We will update this thread every second Friday, when we start a new episode, so all discussion

I always wondered what might have happened to the story had Pacey ended up telling Joey about his romantic feelings for her during that last scene. How would Joey have reacted? Would the triangle have gone down in an entirely different way? Would Pacey have told Joey then done the right thing and immediately told Dawson, too?

I think it would have been better if Pacey revealed his feelings in this episode and everyone was honest from the start. Of course, TPTB didn't want to make things too easy but I still wonder about this moment in the series and how things might have gone down had Pacey revealed his feelings to Joey in this episode.

That quote kind of summed up my feelings about Dawson and Joey during season 3. Being a Dawson and Joey fan for most of the early seasons, it was frustrating that since they weren't in sync at all with their feelings during the season that Joey and Dawson still clung to the idea that they couldn't let go and explore new relationships.

The Andie / joey scene in the golf cart was revealing. Andie basically tells joey she has feelings for pacey, without actually saying it. Pacey's a big dopey dog!

This is also the start of the Matt Caufield arch. Love the scene at the beginning with dawson / joey / and pacey. I always love the differences on how Pacey reacts to joey aand how dawson reacts to her. It's like complete opposites. Pacey and joey always have the banter and dawson sits back and tries to analyze it all. Even in a fun scene with her learning to drive you can see this dynamic.

I agree with you there.

I laugh every time Pacey pops up from the back of the truck and says "Are we there yet", the delivery of that line was perfect. Gives me a good chuckle. And then when he says "who's going drive ya" hilarious.

Of course the rest of the episode is pretty funny too. Joey's chat with Andie in the golf cart, Jack and Andie freaking out over telling Kate about Jack being gay and then the whole jail cell scene.
