Excellent start to the thread - thank you for not just listing it. We seem to have lost the old thread...

Mine's Wings of Desire, which I think is a masterpiece. As a child I'd envisioned this world, and I was overwhelmed to find my secret dreams on the big screen, so beautifully rendered. It was a fantastic experience!

Right now High Fidelity is my favorite movie. John Cusack is dead on as Rob, and the voice over then use for the character's narative is just really good. I love the novel too.

My other favorite is Donnie Darko. It's just so original and odd and you can't help but fall in love with Donnie. The concept of it all warps your brain to the fact you just can't get enough of the movie.

I'm gonna agree with you on this one! This is one of John's best roles...and Jack Black is also wonderful and hilarious in it!

My favorite film though, is probably The Shawshank Redemption. It's been a fave of mine for a while now. The story is absolutely fantastic, and I love Morgan Freeman's character and the way the story is sort of told thru his eyes. It also has some of the best scenes ever in films. (The scene where they're drinking beer tarring, or when the opera music plays...I cry every time. I swear.)

The Crow.

Brandon Lee's breakout film, and his last. Just a remarkable movie, the tragic loss of life, the passion propelled revenge, the sad and bitter reality of the loss of Eric Draven and Brandon Lee simultaneously.

The Matrix

Incredible concept, great cast, a hella lot of action, and was ultimately very well executed.

And the Harry Potter series. Squee!

My favorite movie of all time has to be Top Gun. I watched it for the first time when it first came out, when I was just 2 years old! Since then, I believe I've seen it at least 50-100 times. Or more. I never kept track, but I know the first few summers it was out, my brother and I watched it almost every other day. So, it's probably my favorite movie just based on the number of times I've seen it, but I also love everything else about it. It still makes me laugh, cry, (and swoon over Tom Cruise .

My other absolute favorite is a Hindi movie, so I won't go into great detail, but Devdas because of the beautiful cinematography, the beautiful story, the beautiful everything! Plus, Ash and Shah Rukh and Madhuri are my favorites, and I love Chunni Babu (I know some of ya'll here are Hindi film fans!)

Other favorites (there are a lot, beware! I'm a movie fanatic) include The Princess Bride - so funny! Cary Elwes really does a fantastic job in that type of role - Men in Tights, anyone??

The Harry Potter films almost by default - I love the books, how can I not at least love the films a tiny bit? Plus, Dan Radcliffe may be the most adorable person ever (and will grow up to be gorgeous). And Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. And Bonnie Wright and Tom Felton... aw, hell, I love them all!

Good Will Hunting, great script, always makes laugh and cry, and I love the Boston accents.

Forrest Gump - well, I do believe this one is pretty obvious. Simply an amazing movie. Tom Hanks is an incredible actor.

Romeo and Juliet: It's intense. I know a lot of people don't like it, and I don't even know how much I like the actual play (relative to Shakespeare's other works), but wow, this just blows me away every time.

Two newer favorites:

Sweet Home Alabama: perfect girly movie. It's just adorable, and funny and charming. Plus, I'm originally from the South, so it makes me feel all homey and happy inside.

X-Men 2: This could be a favorite just based on that very last scene. (Those of you who have seen it (and also know the original comics/cartoon series) will know what I'm talking about.)

Whew! That's a lot of movies, sorry for the humongous post.

Edited: Also, I love almost any and every musical, whether it's a musical made into a movie (like, the Music Man... LOVE! or Chicago, etc), or a musical all on it's own, like Moulin Rouge. Oh, and can't forget Newsies. I have mad Newsies love.

Man, I bet you all *wish* I had listed them after this huge post. I have others I want to list, but I'm stopping here.

I can never tire of it. It has me rolling about in laughter, I adore the actors...they're both as superb as can be here And there's even that little bit that makes you want to cry.

Brief Encounter
I love a movie I can recite

Genevieve
Completely FUN! It's so simple yet so perfect. I feel sorry for people who haven't seen it because they're missing out on something truly special!

The Lady Vanishes
My absolute favourite Hitchcock film!

Stella Dallas and Piccadilly Incident
Both absolutely tear my heart out, rip it in two, and then shove it back in haphazardly Both cases of films where I'll start crying somewhere in the middle and totally not be able to stop until it's over.

Double Indemnity
The bit where the car won't start...has me holding my breath each time

Singin' In The Rain
I've seen it two dozen times in the past few years but can never tire of it.

Oliver!
The only thing I've been completely obsessed with for 17 years (I'm 21 now )

Royal Tenabaums is one of my favorite movies because it's so eccentric. And a satire which is one of my favorite comedy styles. Everything was just executed perfectly in those movie. And I just love all the characters especially Royal. You just can't help but love Royal.

My ultimate fave is Titanic. Ever since I saw this movie in theaters it's been glued to me ever since. I never get tired of it. When I watch it I get a new amazing sensation. I love that movie.
