Initially? Brooke went after Lucas hard, even knowing her best friend was into him. She didn't care, she manipulated to get Lucas. She found a way to get Lucas during a weak moment and they hooked up. No emotional connection at all, just physical connection. From that point forward it was lies, physical connection, Lucas not over Peyton, but at times, trying to convince Brooke he was. Brooke knew he wasn't. Brooke understood this which is why she was so miserable when they tried a second time. She knew it wasn't going to work.
