i watched this the other day->

Arguably spielberg's worst film!
it stands out like a beacon. it was wedged in between close encounters of the third kind (1977) and raiders of the lost ark (1981)! and what was also surprising, the writers of the script were bob gale and robert zemeckis, the co-writers of back to the future!

So, nothing could possibly go wrong here? can it?

this film is so bad, it should have killed off spielberg's career

it was marketed to be a comedy, but it did not get a single laugh out of me. and three comedy legends were in the cast: dan aykroyd, john candy and john belushi.
the score (by john williams) did not match what we saw (it was overbearing)

but the funny thing is: that awful film is influential for many films we did see further down the track!
Gangs of new york or even dunkirk!

and the sets (eg tanks, planes) were nicely designed for a big budget hollywood film.
