Yeah well he did say they would get married, have kids. But get divorced. But we would see them fall in love again and reunite. Its a blueprint that works. But not an original story arch.
Thing with Joey and Pacey and Dawson. I do feel with Dawson living in LA, and Joey NY. Would Dawson make any compromises? He wasen't willing in S2. What would change? Pacey said so in S4, he would go where ever Joey went. And he did.
