The Hutch Appreciation #18 - From Bridges To Arenas To Convenience Stores, Josh Burns Up The Silver Screen!

Welcome to the 18th Josh Hutcherson Appreciation Thread

10 Reasons To Fall In Love With Josh Hutcherson

Josh Hutcherson was born in Union, Kentucky. His mother, Michelle, is a former Delta Air Lines employee who now assists Josh,
and his father, Chris Hutcherson, is an analyst for the EPA. He has a younger brother, Connor, as well as many pets,
including two dogs, Diesel and Nixon (a boxer). He has wanted to be an actor since he was four years old,
but had only begun auditioning for roles in 2002, at the age of 9. He moved from Union to California due to
limited acting opportunities. Hutcherson has cited actor Jake Gyllenhaal as an inspiration.

On August 11, 2007, Hutcherson served as the Grand Marshal at the Meijer Indy 300 at Kentucky Speedway.
In September 2008, he traveled to Italy for the first time. He visited Rome and Milan, and participated in a local event
for children interested in moviemaking. Hutcherson recorded a video for the "Straight But Not Narrow" campaign,
designed to encourage young, straight men to come out in support of their gay peers. On April 21, 2012,
Josh received the Vanguard Award from GLAAD, awarded to those in the entertainment industry
who make a significant difference in promoting equal rights for LGBT people.

Being from Northern Kentucky, Hutcherson has been a lifelong fan of both the University of Kentucky's Wildcats
and nearby Cincinnati, Ohio's Major League Baseball team, the Reds. As a guest on Conan, Hutcherson talked
about painting his face to show his support during Kentucky Wildcats basketball games and being a season
ticket holder. On April 7, 2012, Hutcherson threw the ceremonial opening pitch before the Reds' game
against the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park.

In April 2012, Hutcherson adopted a pit bull named Driver from the Hands,
Paws & Hearts rescue organization in Lancaster, CA.

About Josh
"But can I talk about Josh? Just because I did know him. And in my estimation and in my experiences with him, he hasn't changed at all. How old were you, 16? As a 16-year-old,
he was exceptionally articulate and talented, and that drive about what he wanted to achieve personally and the kind of work that he wanted to do, he had already accomplished
a tremendous amount. I realized I had seen all of his movies with my kids when he was a child actor. What was great for me was to see this person who has grown up considerably
but whose personality and work ethic and everything have remained intact. So I think, in my view, it's been handled really gracefully by all of them." - Julianne Moore

"I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Josh Hutcherson is the best Peeta. I know everyone is always going on about Jennifer Lawrence and her talent. But I'm just going to say it, I think Josh Hutcherson's Mockingjay Part 1 role is Oscar worthy. Traditionally the Academy Awards are given to "serious" movies, and unfortunately no one would ever dream of letting a YA film into the ranks for anything more than Best Sound Editing and the like. But Hutcherson deserves an award for his portrayal in the third Hunger Games installment, because playing hijacked Peeta requires a whole new level of talent." -

"Josh Hutcherson … wow. Those scenes where Peeta's speaking to the population against Katniss' actions are heartbreaking because he really makes you feel like he’s just as sure of his cause as Katniss is of hers, even if he's been brainwashed. Hutcherson was one of the few things I liked about "Catching Fire," and in "Mockingjay" I'd argue he’s the movie's secret weapon." - Rob Ryan of Gainesville Sun (How ‘Mockingjay` Finally Got Me On Board With ‘The Hunger Games`)
