True, but movies are different. There is only so much slow burn you can do in a movie without a time jump.
I should also add that insane amounts of chemistry can draw me in, too. For example, Michael and Maria get to know each other in one episode and kiss in the next. But those actors literally sizzle on screen, and impulsivity and the tendency to act on emotion is a character trait for both of them, so it makes sense.
