Well I will go opposite approach and I guess I'll give kudos to the way Matt has been portraying Jack... I believe that he has heard SO MANY terrible things about the person he use to be to the point where he doesn't understand why anyone ever truly loved him and cared about him. I've been saying that to months. With Eve, being with her is safe and she has all those values of the bad Jack he heard about.
Even knowing he was a rapist is something he did not want to remember so I feel he just for a long time would've rather dealt with a lie.
