Yup it had been that long so no, I don't buy it...

I agree, we are suppose to buy that Rachel wanting to advance in her career and move is the thing that changed Ross/Rachel to realize how much they were still in love?
I actually would have been more okay with the storyline being Ross not being able to accept Rachel job being in Paris because of how much he loved Emma... to me that story makes more sense to me.
