I definitely don't think he would be okay with Bell dying either. Honestly, it just seemed like a last little dig, typical cocky Murphy remark, to try and get Bell to change his mind. He just doesn't want to put Bell's life over all of his other friends, including his lover Emori. He really believed Clarke was dead and there wasn't any way to bring her back, so he figured he'd look to the future, to the people who were still alive.
